Laser jammers are legal in states which don't specifically outlaw them. Laser jammers are much more useful anyway.
The Blinder Xtreme is probably the most popular:

Also check www.radardetector.net - great forum.

Yeah, I could at least imagine that an active laser jammer has a chance of working... Always thought of building one, but haven't found the time...

Here we go again. Short and simple. There is currently no passive jammer that works period, as in not at all. Active Jammers work, but it's a federal offense in every state that carries a $75,000 fine and massive jail time. STAY AWAY FROM RADAR JAMMERS. THEY DO NOT WORK. Laser Jammers on the other hand aren't monitored by the Federal Government, but they are monitored on the state level. I'm unsure of each states laws. There are a couple of good laser jammers available. Your best source of information is www.radardetector.net, www.speedzones.com, www.guysoflidar.com and www.jammertest.com.
I have Blinder M-20 installed + Bel RX65+ Uniden BCT8
I want to jam the K, and Ka( and the new one will be in effect the new band called Ku in 2006)
Ka is hard to detect by radar dector, it like the lasser.
I found that the Radar jammer are illegel by the FCC, here is the FCC regulation.
FCC Public Notice, DA 96-2040

The new scorpion Ultimate KA jammers can jam the X,K, and Ka.

the RMR products are passive. An active jammer *could* possibly work, but would be illegal.

The Scorpion Ka jammer does work and here are the results:

The problem is that it will cost you $1500.

should i have him return it asap? his STS deserves the best! i might tell him to get a V1 but he will say no because of the price.

I have a Bel980 (bought used 3 years ago for $140)
Dad has an escort 8500 (bought used 2 years ago for $180)
I remember reading the reviews and these two consistently scored the top two positions. They were pretty much on par in detection distance, but the escort usually inched out on usability/interface considerations.
My Bel980 has been great thus far, it's a STEAL if you can find one of these two used for a good price! (as far as i know there's not much difference between these and their newer counterparts).

Lidar (laser "radar") uses light waves and is not governed or protected by the FCC.
