1500 to 2000 spending $

so my boy wants to throw a system into his 1997 E320benz.
hes looking to upgrade his head unit, interiors (with amp), sub(s)(with amp).
Based on that buget (install included), what do you guys recomend he purchases? hes starting from scratch. he lsitens to alotta rap and r&b and wants a base heavy system.
the reason i post this here is b/c i dont know much about car audio and neither does he. he tells me all this bs about circit city being cheep and that they have nice stuff, i tell him hes misinformed. any recomendations are welcome. please dont flame my ignorence. mods if u want to lock this sorry for the whack post.

I can prolly throw something together, but with install included and him being 'bass heavy' its gonna be kinda tight. Also not to mention theyre not the most fun cars to work on or to get sound from the trunk with.

Ill see what I can do, but my honest recomendation would be to buy slowly and wisely, rather than dropping a large nut at one time for sub par products. Inform him to think of it more as an investment rather than just 'spending money'.

Dont worry, theres no need to lock this. Its in the appropriate place. We dont nitpick what car it is.

I refuse to let anyone put RE anything into a Benz. make that budget around 3K and let Don go to work. Or...just do a very good frontstage install and add subwoofers later. Have don put some Germaniums in there with an Eclipse h/u and an arc amp for starters. Oh and some deadening should be added IMO also.

He can buy one from each of us, now that would be a wise investment, although eating up nearly half his budget...

Some good sound dampening always helps as well if you have the budget for it.

maybe i wasnt clear in my previous post...this kid doesnt know the difference between a 200$ kenwood amp and an arc xxx top of the line amp. hes not looking for super top of the line products just a system to get him banging around town when he wants (hence why he thinks circut city is good for him). based on that what can he do for 2grand

Is he/you gonna install it or have a shop nearby do it? I'm asking because a lot of shops won't do work on equiptment unless you bought it from them. That can be kinda limiting. If it is a shop nearby, what do they carry?

How far is you're place in Ct to New Jersey? If you're not far off 95 and close to NY, it really may be worth a visit to Don's so you know the work is quality and authorized and all....
