Good Amp??

reference 611a
I was looking at this amp to power a single Alpine Type-R dual 4Ohm Sub.
Infinity amps any good/decent? I figured it looks like a good deal and is at least 500rms@2ohms. Inputs anyone?

all depends on the budget...if you will never upgrade then just get a decent class D mono amp.

Sorry, I forgot to post the link before...Well it is a Class D amp from what I can tell. I wanted to know if that particular amp would be considered decent for it's price.. decent period?

It's an older model, but infinity quality is nothing like it used to be ... be wary those seem to come back for repair often.

Hmmmmmmm... You're talking about that particular model, new models? Or just Infinity Reference brands in particular?

That particular series.

Put it this way - it's better than sony and pyle and all that crap....but I wouldn't put it in my car.

Bullocks....

Well scratch that. that leaves Kenwood/Alpine/Arc/JL( may be overkill and out of price range.

By the way, is there a particular site/site where I can find reviews for different company's products (not just a bunch of guys praising it on crutchfield.com) Particular what problems certain models faced, pluses, minuses, etc????

Any thoughts on the Rockford Fosgate Punch P6001bD?

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...1&locale=en_US

toss up btwn that or a Kenwood.. http://www.kenwoodusa.com/products/L...k3=155&pr=2718

some decent cheap 500-600w monoblocks Id vote would be the Alpine MRD-M605, and the Kicker 600.1 Both are pretty powerful and clean, and reliable.

I went with the Alpine MRD-M1005. I got a decent deal on it. It may be overkill for one Type-R, but I guess it's good for future upgrades.

Like I said...5 +/- years ago. DA went to crap and eventually sold and PPI did the same just to be taken over by DEI. Most already know anything DEI touches (security aside) turns to p00p.

rather than starting a new thread... lets just append...

I'm trying to design a box on This Site
It was already a pain deciding btwn ported and sealed for my Alpine type R 12'' dual 4ohm sub.
What range should I be looking to tune the port should I go with a ported design?
Going for SQ by the way.

For that sub you would want something around 2.0 cu ft prior to sub displacement. Tuning, you would want to go at or below 30 hz, I would go around 28 for an overall better sq with the same gains in output a ported box would give you.

The kx600.1 is a good amp and reliable it will withstand a trip to newyork working all the way as do most kicker amps i think i have a kx400.1 and a kx1200.1 also no problems.
