so at 1200 degrees the UE started to slip? uh oh, guess i shouldn't buy eD's stuff. And if it gets 200+ degrees in your car you have other things to worry about rather than your dampening melting..

Im not fighting for eD by any means, but who cares about each one's melting point? whats that have to do with how well each deadens vibrations?

I feel like the only usefull info in there is the ply thickness of each.

thoughts?

ED has always been a low rent company. Very few success stories in relation to horror stories. Customer service and product quality is a thing of the past apparently. Rich, you are correct son, They suck.

Oh and one more thing. The Stinger Extreme Road Kill Kevin and I put in 2 years ago hasn't fallen off anywhere. It hasn't slipped or began to peel. People say I am crazy for paying what I did for deadener. The results speak for themselves.

I forgot to mention your stuff...it might actually be the best product out there.

and it does not matter that ED held up to XX temperature, its the fact that other brands can do it with ease, yet ED claims its the "new hotness." The thickness seems to be an issue who knows..my deadening is done.
And Gordon...come drive down and peel off the **** Edead v3 in my car!

these tests don't really mean anything to me.

before he stuck them in the oven, he did the exhaust/heat gun test "by hitting the back of each product with a 1 minute blast of the heat gun 4" away @ 1200°F."

so basically, one was heated up first...then the other. that means that one of them never really cooled down fully. to make it an accurate test, both would have to be heated at the exact same time for the exact same duration.

also, wtf does holding a torch to it prove?

i await the next sound deadener showdown for more accurate testing. at least he tests them all under the same conditions.

I am not sure letting the other cool down would have any effect on the outcome. I could be wrong though. I have witnessed with my own eyes the falure of their product while mine has not. Same car, same city. These tests def weren't using the scientific method down to the letter, but they are telling. I def have no idea what the torch test proves. I would have left that one out.

As do I. I am also waiting for the next deadener test so I can see how many different brands hold up. You should send in a piece so they can test it.

23% of statistics are made up...and any scientific test has its faults. Nevertheless, this shows Eduh hasn't made any progess on its deadening, whereas SS has had damplifier out for years and has performed consistently better.

The test proves that ED products work as advertised, who dips there car in turpentine and who exposes there car to 1200 degrees. Whenever anyone comes out with a new product, whether it be cars, stereos, speakers, clothes, or anything else, they always advertise it as the best, the new baseline. I've never heard anyone say they have the second or third best product out there. I will admit that the original edead that was out about 3 yrs ago was a piece of crap, it did not stick on metal above 150 degrees, it was basically tar on aluminum foil. I did not know at that time our doors could get that hot in the summer. I've used there SE2 for the past year on my roof, wheel wells, door, rear deck, pillars, and trunk and had no problems. It does have a funny smell initially but goes away after a few days. The stuff held up horizontally on my roof last summer when the air temp was 90 degrees plus for weeks and did not sag or come off once, I can only imagine on how hot the metal was. I'm not saying that ED has the best sound deadener out there because I know it's not true, but I do believe the V1 and SE2 is the best bang for the buck. You can get the V1 at a $1 a sq ft plus a 20% discount if you have the code so you are really paying $.80. and a little bit more for SE2. Damplifier and dynmat are great products, I bought damplifier when metal maxima had his sound deadening thread work log on here, the sludge and damplifier were great. I just think damplifier and especially dynamat is too pricey. I stick with ED because I can purchase the exact sq ft I want and I get the product within 3 business days of my purchase at a good price. I plan to purchase UE because I already planned to put down 2 layers of ED se2 on my floor but now I only have to put down 1 layer of UE. I know its more espensive, but I'm lazy, after sound deadening the whole car except the floor, I'm looking to get it done ASAP. If you are looking for the best product, get damplifier from Second Skin. If you think that just because you pay more for it, it automatically makes it the best, get dynamat. If you are looking for the best bang for the buck and works under most tempatures, get edead. Remember sound deadening is unseen product and for the most part you forget about it once you install it.

just remember..every mat ED has sold (not including the new crap), was Peel N seal. Search carstereos.org for a forum member who used to be friends with Ben Milne, and even helped him REMOVE the peel n seal logo from the stuff before they sold it as "Edead".

I can't vouch for Raamatt because I never used it. Like I said before the orginal edead or peal & seal was a piece of crap, it fell off the inside of my doors and the rubber or tar got stuck to my windows, I had to use 3m adhesive remover to get it off. I've had no problems with there recent stuff. I know Baltimore does not get as hot as the southern and western states but it held up over last summer.

you got it for free for a reason...use it on the floor of the car, and the bottom of the trunk so it can't fall off.

I use my RAAMMAT on the outside of the car as well. I have a layer or 2 above the muffler and it is not even close to pealing off or "warping"

Don't remember. I had like 1/4 of a roll so I had plenty to use. I would say 4sq ft for 2 layers. Maybe 5-6
