Whats is wrong with my sub???

Today I wired my 2 audiobahn alum15x's to my jbl bp1200.1. The left sub is making a strange sound whever it is moderately loud. Sounds like metal rattling. That side of the box is very bad because it has numerous holes that I drilled, and it diesn't seal the sub good. Can that be the problem? Is this very harmfull to my sub?

If could be your wiring. When I hooked up one of my subs the wiring was too close to the cone and whenever I turned up the sub, the wire would end up hitting the cone, causing a rattle. It could be a lot of things though, best thing is to open up the box and take a look.

If I open it I dont think I can put it back, the screw holes are so messed up. I'll just leave it till I get a new box.

It could be that the sub is blown. To check the sub, with the radio OFF push down on the cone( like if the sub was working), very softly n listen for a rubbing sound like two peices of metal. If so your voice coil is burnt n you will need to replace the sub.

Hope that help. Brgds

When I push on the sub with the radio off, it moves fine, unless I push it at an angle, then I can feel rubbing, not hear. I don't think it's blown, because it works, and creates allot of sound, it just has that rattling noise. Thanks for your help.
