replace it with a s/c. I run a 40"shot" from NOS and its great. I run respectable times with it. But I am tired of getting blown away on the sreet by my friends s/c VR6 Jetta.
If I use the NOS on the sreet I can run away from him(if he does not use NOS too). But I want that kind of pull all the time. What kind of times can I expect to run with the s/c, and trans upgrade? I have seen s/c auto Maximas run from high 13s to low 15s. And I sure dont want to have any trouble with the car after I pay 3400bucks for the charger. Hopfully some of you s/c guys can help talk me in to this.

You will not run faster with SC->

Typical time for an AUTO Supercharged Max is 14.1-14.4. There are no AUTO SC in the 13s. Even if you run smaller pulley, I doubt you can get into 13s with an auto. Only the 5 speed guys run that fast. If you want to go faster, run more juice. You can run 75 shot without any problem. I would upgrade the fuel pump, valve body kit and run colder plugs. With 75 shot, you should able to run high 13s.

Don runs just NOS and alot of it. If you when with a SC you will have less peak torque. Also your speeds with a SC would be around the same as your times now. But if you were able to run the 65 shot NOS kit from JWT. It allows you to run a dry kit with a wet kit kind of power. From what I believe the ECU once the NOS is engaged delivers more fuel and retards the ignition timing. Its pretty nice hell in Don's car in street trim he was able to pin 3 passengers in the seat and spin 1st gear all the way to the redline. Not to mention with slicks he ran 13.3 at 105 at the strip near san antiono. This is with the 2.1 60fts, if he got 2.0 or 1.9s it would have been 12's.

If typical times will bein the low 14s, that would be great.>>

That is what I would be looking for. Just reliable speed. Low 14s in my opinion is "respectable". Can keep up with just about any car on the road(I know there are exeptions). I would like to break 13s with just a 40"shot. I have been running 14.2s I still have not been able to run with my new tires. 225/45/16 on my stock rims. I am hoping that will give me better gear ratio. Well thakx a lot for the info..

I come up in as many posts as my buddy Woodear>>

hehe. Nismo87SE, I don't know what your smokin' but gimme some!! I really don't run that much NOS. I have the capability to run a bunch, but I don't. typically dyno runs are spraying 65-75hp. Thats all. I can't keep it on the road, and I don't know how much longer my engine will last (102k)..Last event in San Antonio there were a few auto S/C cars there, and I did everything to help them get the ET's down, but it just wasn't happening. Wheelspin is a big factor. That was my biggest problem. Lorens was the clutch, and I forgot what Vapors was. SmartAzz problem was his car was too slow (hehe Adam). So why can't they all run 13's or 12's...I'm not sure. When you get to the 13 sec bracket (or any bracket) it takes alot of hp to reach each 10th of a second. Everything helps. Some people seem to think that they can bolt on 100-150hp NOS system and pull 12's all day long.

I used to have a '90 Mustang GT (in '90). Started with 225 hp, 5-spd, taller gears, 125 hp NOS, exhaust, intake, pulleys, slicks, etc and i still only did a best of 13.00 . Its not as easy as it sounds.

Would I go with a S/C? Sure. Why? Because the power is always there. I would work the tranny in an auto (see me for that). Why did I go with the NOS setup? Because I put this system together almost 2 years before the S/C was developed for the Maxima. The system I use in my car was THE FIRST. THE FIRST JWT ECU, the first JWT NOS daughterboard program for NOS, the first VB mod, the first VLSD tranny swap. Since then I haven't made any modifications to my car. I've tuned and altered some parameters (proprietary). Why proprietary? cause thats the way I like it.

Anyway, If I had to do it all over again (and I will) I would go with a nice quiet automatic and a S/C.
