I know I know, enough about my friends s/c Jetta. I took my dad for a ride sunday. played around a little bit, o.k. its quick he says. Oh no I wanted to REALY show him. There is a brand new road next to the house. 1.4 miles(by the odom) with no turns. I went to the end of the road and turned around. There is a driveway a little more than 5tenths of a mile up the road. I just nail it hard, every gear like I was racing for money or somthing. The top of second it gets fun, as I get to the top of third my dad is grabbing on the "O ****" handles and was glad he had his seatbelt on. I go to a little over 100 I quess as I shift to fourth. As we pass the drivway we are just before 130mph so I stay on it for a little longer and let off at 140 still in fourth gear at only 6000rpms. The car was still pulling so hard when I chickend out. My dad was pretty impressed. He is used to the big blocks in the old days and the comaros and vetts. I ran that car at the track and ran 13.3@107mph so I knew it was fast. All I have to say is I appreciated the trust my friend has in me. And madmax2k has raced a v-12 benz in his s/c jetta he used to have to speeds upward of 155+
I know this is a Max board and I still love my Max, but when you can go 0-130 in a half-mile it owns some respect.

Our '95 GLE will run about 124 on the stretch of Interstate where I do my infrequent top speed runs. Today our '89 Porsche 928 S4 hit just over 165 indicated. That's a record for me in a car (been slightly faster on several bikes). It may have had a couple of mph left in it too.

 

Yep....Ill admit to that! But, Ill also admit to winning the race! I hit over 160 mph when I wimped out. It looked like it was going to hit the rev limiter in 5th at 7200 rpm, and 172 mph. Things get scary up there I wish I still had that car
