Man it sounds like you guys have got it good down there! Gas is always more expensive in my neck of the woods compared to the rest of Canada/United States. The last time I filled up, gas was 99.9 cents/litre for 91 octane (not sure what that would translate to in gallons). I filled up from a little below a quarter tank and it cost me $60.00!!! I think that works out to be about $50 USD. I gas prices jump up even higher then I don't know if I can afford to keep my Max or not!

Are you talking about last year or this year? I bought some V power gas last year and it was okay.

I remember reading awhile back that the Shell gas was eating away at the sensor inside the tank that indicates fuel level.

this is the reason quite a few Shell stations had to shut down. the tainted gas had damaged their leak detection equipment. if your in Tampa you'll have probably noticed that Shell stations have been closing down, while other Shell stations are opening up less than a mile away.

Highest I've seen around north Chicago is $2.77 for premium (mostly close to highway exits), but I saw $2.39 at a Mobil (Cicero/Devon I think) so I'm planning on going there tomorrow to fillup (not sure if they went up or not). About $2.50 for 93 at most other gas stations

Try to get a credit card from Citi bank for their 5% back on gas/grocery/drugstores thing

CA is so unique, and proof that having a "3" in the first digit for the price of gasoline does not change Americans' wasteful habits. Like I said, we must have over 10 people living within a 1 mile radius of one another on my floor and in the same group of the dept., and nobody has even once considered a car pool.

One the East coast we still feel mystery and pride around getting a "six-figure" job and not paying Social Security for all 26 paychecks. What do they do in Cali., feel pride when they cross the 300k threshold? You couldn't even survive in San Fran with a $100,000 salary!!

This seems to be the easiest way for some people to grasp the rising prices of gasoline. Pin it on one guy as the scapegoat so at least there is some hope for them. They'll be scratching their heads as to why gas isn't all of a sudden $.99 gallon when he's gone and another sucker is in the Whitehouse.

Unless you already have the "beater" it wil cost you money to acquire it. That money could go in your Maxima's gas tank.

i think its recomended, but if oyu do the math. a tank of 91 costs about 3 bucks more than a tank of 87. 91 is better for your engine and supposedly gets better milage, so for 3 bucks, what the hell right?

Really? I'd like to see how much Iraqi oil we are using.. None. Not one drop.

If you keep spouting out that left wing garbage the media is feeding you, you may start to believe it. Try reading this thread before you post. Gas prices have been VERY low in the US compared to the rest of the world. Look at how much gas costs in Italy... Yet they are much closer to the middle east

OPEC nations know that they have us by the *****. We have requested they increase their output... its not going to happen. Take a look at Saudi Arabia, probably one of the, if not the worlds biggest exporter of oil.. you think rich right? No, they have a 30% unemployment rate.. which is just the same if not more than when we went through the great depression. The Saudi's, Venezuelans, Sudan, etc all know we are the worlds biggest buyer... and guess what? India and China are becoming HUGE users of oil now and we have to basically overbid them to get that oil. The only country left that has huge amounts of oil that are relatively untapped is Russia. And with their proximity to China, it looks like we arent exactly going to win.

Get used to it, like I said before and if you read before, during the 70's gas crisis, and adjusting to inflation, gas prices were all upto $3 a gallon... and that was 30 years ago! This was 30 years in the making. Stop fooling YOURSELF.

So, what you're telling me is George W and haliburton....have 0 interest in oil? The people that funded his campaign have 0 interest in oil? You've got to be kidding me. Same way tobacco is never going to go down. There's a push to keep tobacco the #1 cash crop in this country. There's alot of old money in this country, you better open your eyes and look around. Why do you think they'll never legalize marijuana? Because tobacco will take a big hit.

Btw, you know how many soldiers are sent to iraq to protect each person building that pipeline? It's about 3:1.

I never said George W has no interest in oil. My point was that he is not to blame for the soaring oil prices. Just blaming one guy is a narrow and close minded way of looking at the world. The world is bigger than the United States, there are other countries out there with the thirst for oil. It's basic supply and demand with greed thrown in there if you boil it all down.

I can't believe I am replying to this post now, but here goes... I think everyone would agree that regardless of political affiliation or agenda, the current oil price situation can be blamed on one thing above all others and that is the worlds (yours and mine) dependency on oil and similar fossil fuels, it will only get worse in the long run until we find something else to use to get us from point a to point b.

<---*looking forward to purchasing the first H powered Maxima*

I wonder why? Oil is the only thing Iraq has to export, every cent of oil they are selling (which is not to us) is going straight to rebuild the government. Actually if you didnt realize, Halliburton is IMPORTING oil because the country cannot make enough of it. Read up on it. Its costing our country to import oil to them... Since it is the only thing Iraq can make money on, why shouldnt they protect the workers? Did you not realize the contractors doing the work are the #1 target by the terrorists over there? You and those terrorists seem to think alike. I guess being beheaded on video tape like an animal isnt enough reason. Tobacco is a different story. I guess turning our country into pot heads is okay... atleast in your communist point of view. This doesnt need to turn into a Bush bashing thread, leave it be. Actually, if you dislike him so much, leave the country.

Well I finally stepped down to 87... I believe the mid grade octane, basically the premium is up above $2.50 and I can't afford having to fill my tank up twice a week ($160 a month) But! for some reason the cars performance hasn't downgraded... it's actually better on acceleration and gas intake. Sooo I'm just gonna stick to the mid grade, sorry guys for selling out lol But money's money!

What I'm saying is...these soldiers are going over to Iraq thinking they're fighting for freedom. How is legalizing pot communist? This country is spending so many millions of dollars fighting a drug "war" to stop marijuana. How many people have cigarettes killed vs. marijuana? You still haven't answered my questions about bush and cheney having interests in oil. Everything isn't as clear cut as you think it is. What gives the US the right to do all of this...and not other countries?

What does that have to do with gas prices?

Drug wars a totally different area. You need more man power and nations that will agree to make it illegal and enforce it.
