I found a gas receipt in my car from late March--2.039 for super. Now it's 26 cents more. The joke's on us since even oil prices going down is cause for gasoline prices going up! Oil was flirting with under $50/barrel last week. Of course, the real price of unleaded gasoline has little to do with crude....

Gas prices will likely go up slightly just before Memorial Day and drop again when everyone is on the road out of town. Expect gas prices to continue to trend lower between now and the end of June. The question is: what happens to gas prices during the summer driving season beginning in July and extending to Labor Day? I suspect we have seen the high in gas prices for the year.

Something we all need to understand is that gas prices will permanently be $2 a gallon (or so) in the US from now on. It was a matter of circumstance and economy that gas prices rose, and you can read an article in the news that mentions in the future it is quite realistic that gas prices can (may) be as high as $5 a gallon... not the near future, mind you, but soon enough in our short lives.
It sucks... but it certainly is going to change the way we do things in the next 5 or 10 years, don't you think?

With the collapse of the US dollar, many things are starting to be built in USA. It's not the labor that's cheaper, it's the TCO concept. Total cost of ownership. Overall, it makes more sense to build in the USA than in Korea. Sharp microwaves? Made in USA. Man, it's mind-boggling how our country has changed in a mere 3 1/2 years.

1 penny different per grade. How much more proof does anyone need that the price is artificial and bears no relationship to crude oil prices?

Frank you are right about the gas prices 1 station here in Brooklyn sells super for 2.59.9 and a few blocks dowm 2.44.9. I love that .9 don't you. Gas would be cheaper if they would lower the taxes. Honda also builds cars down south. If I am correct the reason they built in the south is no union wages.

Don't you mean 10% ethanol, rather than methanol?
Gas prices where I live are now at their lowest level in about 2 months, thankfully. However, the stations play games with pricing by dropping it about 10 cents a litre for a few hours about twice a week. Consequently you either have to be in the right place at the right time, or pay attention to gas pricing on some of the websites.
The spread between 87 octane and premium (91/92 octane) is 11.5 cents a litre or the equivalent, at current exchange rates, of about US34 cents per US gallon.

Just got back from Montreal, very interesting trip.
Petrol there was $0.919 CDN/litre, which is $3.48/gal CDN or 2.75/gal US. Wow, that's not much more than CA, it's 2.57 in SF and 2.47 in LA. The hotel that cost us only $100 in 1999 now costs $175 CDN. Inflation?
We had a Ford Focus rental car--man did that thing handle. The steering was way tight. My buddy said it's designed for Europe or something, that's why it handles so well. Good enough that it makes C&D Ten Best I suppose.
Last thing that was interesting, my buddy locked the keys in the car. A cop came with a slim jim and couldn't open in after trying for 25 min. Locksmith showed up and opened it in.....I kid you not........about 7-8 seconds. It was like watching a magic show--he had something that resembled a coat hanger, only it was formed into a special shape. He slipped it down into the door, turned it 90 degrees, and the thing was inside the car and could grab almost anything he wanted. I'm going to search for that tool on the web, can't hurt to have one.

In NJ, I saw many places with 1.999, the lowest being 1.949. That's for 87--I use that for comparison because anything goes with 93 now, it can be 8 cents more than 87, or 34 cents. Most often it seems to be 20 cents despite the small percentage 20 cents is when divided by 2.179.
As much as I kid around that people in the oil/refining business can't do math and that they manipulate prices, they really can do math and are fine examples of business people. They have delivered big time to shareholders in their companies, unlike IT where the stocks have flopped for about 7 years.

The spread between 87 octane and premium in British Columbia is considerably more than just across the line in Washington. At current exchange rates, the spread between 87 and 91/92 is about US$0.34 per US gallon and I believe in Washington its about US$0.20.
87 octane a few days ago was as low as Cdn$0.847/litre which equates to about US$2.55/US gallon. Go figure, Canada supplies more oil to the US than any other country and our gasoline prices are higher than in the US as we are taxed to death.

If it's any consolation your real estate prices are out of this world too--but that's great if you own. After 5 years the amt. of equity you build up in Cali. is a mint when compared to Phila.

I would never use Shell gas. In Florida alot of drivers including my son-in-law had to clean their fuel systems because of something Shell put in the gas. I filled up in NJ this past weekend and Super was 213.9 for Super and in Brooklyn it was 2.54.9. Its not only the gas price but the taxes you pay according to the state you are in. Warren

I filled up with 94 Octane. Payed 0.989$/litre (petro-canada). Down to 3/4 of the tank with 160 km (100 miles) on the clock. Not bad for a VQ35 considering I floor it 24/7. That would mean 400 miles on a tank for very aggressive city driving.
