HID fog problem

Last week one of my HID fogs stopped working, so I figured I would look at it the next day, but then it started to work again somehow. I thought it fixed it self or something.

Then last night, the same one didn't turn on again. So, now today I'm looking at it and all the wiring and ballasts seem to be fine. I turn on the fogs and then that one starts blinking really fast like a strobe light and I hear the ballast clicking. This goes on for about 5 seconds or so and then the fog turns on, but it sounds like the ballast hum is louder than it has been in the past. Is one of my ballasts starting to kick the bucket or is it a loose connection? I've had the fogs installed for a few months and haven't had any problems until last week. I don't think it's a moisture problem because my ballasts are tucked up and out of the way, and my car hasn't gotten wet before hand.

Take the bulb from the other side nd try it, if it fires up right away, then the original bulb is bad. If it flickers, then the ballast/igniter is going.

Even if the ballasts are tucked out of the way, I would still reccomend waterproofing them.

The bulb is fine. It was flickering like I said. I just got home and the fog was working fine during the drive.

Actually your symptoms is classic for a bulb that is about to go bad. Most flicker and then work fine, but later on it takes longer and longer to turn on, and eventually never does.

Ok, so it happened again. Yesterday after work, I checked it out and when I turned on the fogs, the ballast on the driver's sided did not turn on at all...slient.

I wiggled some wires around for a big and eventually the ballasts started humming and it light turned on.

Now today, it's not working again.
I'll have to take it all apart tomorrow and see what I can find. You guys think I need a new ballast or maybe some moisture got in?
