today, I was in a parking garage, and I parked RIGHT next to the elevator... and these 2 guys were oblivious to the fact that I owned the car they were looking at... I gave em' the benefit of the doubt though and kept it quiet....


some guy #1 - " now that's old school! "
some guy #2 - " gosh that's a cool old car, must be like uh, what... 73'? "
some guy #1 - " they didn't make cressidas that far back dude, you dumbass "
some guy #2 - " oh it says maxima on the back, musta' swiped that from a 90's maxima "

ok so im at the best buy meet in Moorestown in NJ and some kid driving a wrx asked me and my buddy who is on here, dgriff, wat kind've work he had done and after my buddy told him hes like ill beat u in a race... then this dude keeps rantin on about how he had a maxima sel with jus a catback could beat his wrx which is kinda modded... and then my buddy pops the hood of his max and the guys like "wait u have a turbo" so we jus left the dude haha he was so friekn stupid

LOL My buddy has an 05 Ram SVT with cold air and racing chip. The first week I had my car I challenged him to a race. I smoked him 4 times in a row. We raced from a stop and rolling starts and he put up a challenge but couldnt take me.

A stock 5.9L ram would have no chance against a stock maxima with the 3.5. And mine is auto! rofl, too bad you didnt get a chance to show him whos boss!

 

Great thread! I just finished reading all 24 pages and have some of my own to add.

I just bought my 02SE and I pull in my driveway when my grandparents are visiting my house. My Grandfather goes "Wow whos car is in the driveway? Thats an exotic sports car" I told him it was my nissan and he was blown away lol.

So I decided that im going to take my car to the track for some drag racing once I get a few things done to give it some extra pep. My GF "Your car isnt fast enough to race" pffff hahaha, I just laughed and told her to wait and see.

When my mom found out I was going to race it - "Are you going to drift it?" pfff hahaha thats even funnier than my GF.

A buddy of mine when I first showed him the max - "oh, maxima? thats the one right under an altima right?"
me - "no this is better than the altima"
buddy - "no way man the altima is better. its like corolla and camry, maxima is the corolla."
me - pfff hahahaha no are you kidding me look at what this car has inside"
I show him all the features of the car and take him for a cruise on the highway.
After that he stopped talking about the altima...

He seemed surprised when I said I had a 3.5.

All this Honda confusion stems from dumb people that don't know anything beyond American brands. Ironically, IME, most ricers come from said redneck-ish background. Think about it--if they knew anything, Honda wouldn't be on their shortlist.

funniest thing, a few nights ago i'm starving, go to drive to 7-11 for some imminent runs food, and some redneck thats like 40 or 50 comes up in a civic hatch with a fart cannon and altezzas and revs me. i just shook no and he still peeled and did a launch for no reason. FTL i did get the runs from the 7-11 food though after

latest dumb comment isnt a biggie, every Saturday night in a parking lot people bring imports like WRX, 240sx, Skylines, RX-7, etc. I dont know/talk with anyone but i usually just sit there with a drink and people still throw compliments

NOONE, and i mean NOONE knows what car my 3rd gen is. my Maxima logo on the back light has faded and the only way you can tell that its a nissan is by the burger on the front grille

 

Okay well I had a kid at my old high school call my car a ricer car because I was missing a fender and had full exaust on a maxima. Another kid replied by saying that exaust on a maxima is just the same as on a Buick regal. The one kid owns a Pontiac grandam and is convinced that his car is faster.
Since then I got a fender and done many other mods.

I can't believe I read all those posts. It kind of really makes me want to get a Maxima now. I don't like getting something everyone has already. It's just been hard finding one around here, I'm keeping my budget under $6k.

Now, just throwing this out, but I wonder if people ever tell y'all those things just to mess with y'all. I have had my ZX2 for 10 years now. I know it's not as "exotic" looking as a Maxima, but after 195k miles, I've never been told anything in a gas station or at school or work. I don't have any mods, so it doesn't really stand out, but there are far and few of that model.

I know I rag on my friends when they're so proud of their stuff, and I do it with a straight face so they think I'm being serious.
