Of course I know that not all 6-gens are Altima look-a-likes. At the right angle they have their own distinctive and appealing style. And up through 2006 you could still get an awesome 6MT. However, this comment will still probably offend a LOT of 6-gen owners. For that, I'm sorry guys. IMO, and all.

Anyway, at the time, the following struck me as a pretty awkward moment:

At my dealership this Summer, a new salesman who didn't know me, my car and its mods, grabbed me and asked if I wanted to "upgrade to a used 2007 Maxima."

He actually said "upgrade".

The guy was new.

Okay I have a new story for those who read my last altima vs. maxima dispute with my friend:

After coming with me to the track last weekend my buddy decided he wants a nissan. He likes the max but thinks altima is more affordable, he also said he doesnt want to have the same car as me (I wouldnt mind honestly)....

Anyways we go to nissan dealer and hes checking out a 3.5 SE altima 4dr with a 5spd. The saleswoman is trying to talk up the altima cuz she saw me pull up in the max. She is bragging about all the features of altima... leather, 6cd bose, blah blah and then she goes AND IT HAS SOMETHING THE MAXIMA DOESNT- a telescopic steering wheel... WHOO HOO wow fancy that.... blah like that even matters.

then as we are leaving to take the test drive she tells me- after riding in this altima you will change your mind about the maxima, and goes on about how great it is.... yeah right

After driving for about 5 minutes having trouble with the clutch which seemed overly sensitive the car went haywire and we pulled over... it wouldnt go into gear and we couldnt drive it.... they had to come pick us up, turns out the clutch pedal was messed up and wouldnt work properly... needless to say my friend is not buying from those idiots and we are trying to find him a used maxima private sale.... maxima ftw!

I get the loud exhaust = speeding comparison by my neighbors and friends all the time, by far the most annoying to me.

oh yea thats priceless. I dont have exhaust on my max yet, but I had an accord that did and my friends sitting in the car with me going 60kph tell me to slow down stop speeding... the limit was 60kph. Even had moms shaking a fist at me driving by a parked school bus and I was going 30kph....

Nyah a co-worker of a fellow Max owner that drives a Impreza (that's in the shop for upgrades).

To say I was annoyed would be a bit of an understatement but I blew it off..

tell him that only girls drive imprezas

honestly I love the red max's that I have seen. There is a guy on here with a 4g (I think) that is custom painted a nice vivid red and it looks very nice.

at the swap shop in sunrise, fl.

"ay daww hook dat sheeit up wit like six twells daww make dat sheeit bump da block apart"

translation= "Good sir, why dont you buy some twelve inch subwoofers in order to make yourself deaf in 2 years."

. . . So far I got JBL coaxials in the front, alpine type r 6.5 component woofers in the rear deck, and a Kenwood deck that has a 24 bit D/A converter. It sounds audiophile but lacks true low end bass.

I plan to amp the speakers up to an alpine, kenwood, infinity, or similarly high quality 4 channel amp, and then MAYBE get one 10" or two 8"s to a JL or alpine amp. BTW i got two alpine type r 12s and a 1600 watt hifonics d class 2 channel that would tear the block apart. But it would also fry my alternator .

I have all the factory bose with JVC HU and added a KEF 12" sub. The 12" has a fantastic deep base and works great in tandem with the stock 8".... x2 12" that would definitely be too much... are you serious the guy talked like that I couldnt even decipher what that was about 'till I read your translation.

Buy a higher output alternator=profit for your system

Some guy was staring at the back of my car and then walked up and asked what does MAXIMA and GLE stand for?

I honestly didn't know what to say, because I don't even know the answer myself so I just said that Maxima is the name of it and GLE stands for Godly Lexus Eliminator, and he bought it

But for some reason the VERY first thing that popped into my head was Golden Lesbian Electrician, and no I wasn't drunk or high or watching ****... well... maybe

Cant beat BOSE when it comes to factory car audio, the jbl and harmon kardon setups usually just bear the brand names but unless its an expensive luxury car its just a paper cone eco-speaker.

yea they say theres a miami accent, well theres also a "lauderhood" accent spoken by the people from inner city fort lauderdale.

Theres a few scenarios I can picture my car with in terms of stereo, but first.
1. I absolutely agree that I would need a new alternator, and the main reason i havent done any stereo work ( i have a well grounded knowledge base in automotive stereos and DC electronics in general.) Is because i know for a fact that alternator would fry in a matter of days with the equiptment I have, and I dont want to go out and buy more stereo eqpt.

Do you know of anyone who makes a high output alternator and where can I get one, if i have to buy a universal h.o. alternator and mount it, forget it id rather do an optima battery in the trunk and have an accessory battery charge system wired.

1st scenario, same interior speakers + the two alpines with a h.o. alternator.
2nd , same interior speakers + sell the alpine setup and install a 200 watt (20 amp draw amplifier) bass system, mb quart or jl or alpine 8-10" woofer and it would sound reall nice.
3rd- sell one alpine, and the amp and the box, and put the other alpine in with a 500-900 watt amp (50-100 amp draw).

whatever i do i will document and post.

I got the altima one at the track last night.

This was as we were waiting in line
Civic Guy:What year is your altime?
Me: Uh this a maxima..
Civic Guy: Oh cool, I raced one if the exact same model on the street the other night, and I beat it.
Me:Cool..

He had been running slower E/T's than me all night.
Unfortunately I didnt get to race him, oh well.

guy at a "race spot" asked my girl if her car was auto she said ya he said should be a good race then. after the race he waked if it was supercharged she said it was and he was like damm u gotta warn people about that lol she said u did not ask that.

have not had the max long enough to find anything slow enough for me to beat even stock hondas beat me
