98 GXE... super black, sunroof.. 56k miles..... Just over 10 grand, 1 owner lease vehicle, no dents or dings, a few scratches but everything else is great as far as I and a mechanic can tell... Few things I didn't like: Tan cloth interior, No ABS brakes... But, I looked at over 15 Loaded SE Maximas 97-99 and NONE had ABS, WTF!?! Anyways.. pics coming soon.... Damn, I'm so excited... oh yea, it's an automagic

.....
mzmtg: GXE is indeed cheaper if u consider changing springs and struts anyways, and add aftermarket rims, like I plan on doing
deezo: thanks It rides amazing, a bit too floaty suspension for me, but that can be changed, I loved the steering feel, quiet ride etc..
SprintMax: thanks, but I'm sorry.. I let you down It's an automagic.. I only saw 2 5spds both sold for over 13 grand, too rich for my blood, plus I need a cruiser not a race car...
For anyone wondering, I got the car at a dealer auction, exit 7 just off the New Jersey Turnpike, most 98 SEs sold for less than 14 grand, a lot of them were well optioned, with less than 50k miles.. most sold for no less than 12.5k if that low... But, cars there are in excellent condition, at least most, if they are damaged, or were wrecked, they tell you, if there is a title problem, such as odometer rollback or something of that sort, they give you a full refund... One thing I have to say, after spending a day there, I looked at numerous 6th gen Accords, Camrys, a few Mustangs, 2 GTPs, and other cars and I gotta say the Max is beautiful, only the Accord seemed like it was more built more solid, but I couldn't get a 6 cyl for 11k. Time to get a 2nd job so I can afford some mods....

Wow, congrats, that was fast. I also bought my car at the Bordentown auction. So if it was around $10.2K, you probably had to pay another $1K of taxes and auction fee as well as $150-$200 to your dealer putting the tag closer to $11.5K or did you mean a bit over $10K with all that included. Either way, I love that color and here are some suggestions as to what I would do.
1. You probably have the 15' passenger tires w/ hubcaps, so I would immediately look for a set of the 97-99 SE rims or maybe something aftermarket like you mentioned.
2. I would probably try to add on factory fogs, look for a spoiler on E-bay, and probably sand the chrome grille down to paint it black to match like the SE. Also if it has the cassete deck, I'd probably get a new head unit.
3. Get 20% tint and if it was me, I'd tint the front glass to about 35% as well. Also, there are real xenon's going around the NY area for as low as $200. Also maybe get a black aftermarket leather kit from leatherseats.com.
Either way, good luck with it. Probably belonged to some old guy that just drove it to work and never took it past 2-3 RPM.

Had a good vocation?
With the auction fee it's 10,400, dealer is 150$... I did not get it registered yet, I just got off the phone with Geico, putting more than just liability on this car (unlike the 3rd gen) but it's still a household vehicle in my fathers name with my mother and me as other drivers, everyone with clean records. Insurance on myself would be astronomical, even here in Staten Island. I am estimating with tax it will be definately be over 11k. Plus plates, registration, inspection.. that's 11.5k right there. No way around it I guess. I think, and I've heard of better auctions in other places, pricewise that is, but I really did not want to bother, plus after marking off nearly 13 Maximas and seeing them all slip out of my price range by a grand or 2 I knew 97-99 SE is not reality for me, so I started bidding on GXEs with sunroofs and less than 60k. I missed a nice white one, then a black 97 with 35k, which I still regret.. I didn't think I'd get this 1 but no one else bidded... I might pull an "AndyXXL" move and turn the GXE into an SE but it's okay for now. I have no money anyways lol. Later

Yeah, the vacation was great, didnt really want to come back to this ...... place after spending a week in VT/NH.
As for the car, yeah make it fun, space it out and eventually turn it into one hot SE look alike.

Congrats! Welcome to the world of the 4th gen (Like I'm one to welcome, my ride still has in-transits)
Sounds like a solid car to me, although I woulda preferred stick even for a 'rollin' car. Only mods I'd make to that thing would be to get it as flossy as a loaded SE, and some bumpin beats. THEN it'd be a *true* rollin' car
