Things that piss you off about your maxima!

well the fact it has 225k miles on it. But the reason I bought the car was because it was all hiway miles and the car was mint. ASfter a few months the rust started coming through. the interior is still mint but it has the wood grain dash option and it is mint except for the piece that surrounds the vents above the radio.

Things I hate:
#1: DTE reading says 20 miles gas left and I go to the pump and fill up and it only takes 15 gallons in a 20 gallon tank. "Hey you're out of gas. Just kidding you have 5 gallons left".
#2: The trottle. push it all the way down...slower acceleration. Push it all the way down and back off a half inch or so...takes right off. WTF???? I have an 08 does anyone else have this problem? If you do you know what I'm talking about..that spot on your pedal when you push it down you can feel it "slide past a bump" right before it stops.
#3: The stereo. It protects my ears from hearing too loud of music.
#4: CVT, 0 gears, need I say more.

no kidding right! I thought something was wrong with my suspension!!
The drivers seat isn't long enough or something, I just can't seem to adjust it right. Only had it a week, so maybe just needs getting used to.
Funny noise when A/C is on.

Beam suspension and aggressive offsets don't mix with passengers
That damn rear deck rattle from even the smallest bass.
Nissan paint quality, chips chips and more chips
The turning radius!
And a sunroof with a mind of its own.

things that **** me off on my '98 SE
1) the fact that I have to fix something else after another repair
2) it was designed to run on premium fuel
3) ABS & a low washer fluid light should've been standard features, but were optional *
4) a SES light that just won't go away
* on #3 yeah I'm a bit picky about these small things, although my Max doesn't have these 2 items. For those of us who get a lot of snow in the winter can certainly appreciate the features in #3. C'mon, even a 1998 GM or Ford has these features standard

04 Maxima 3.5 SL that I've owned for 2 weeks and 2000 miles.
-HUGE turning radius
-Torque Steer like crazy even with the VDC on. Heck, I've never even dared to turn it off!
-Handling is Meh!
-Got told by my friends mom "Hey nice car! Did your mom just buy it?!"
-Sunroof doesn't want to work properly all of a sudden?!
-The silver plastic trim
-Exhaust is too quiet
-Braking is alright but not too confidence inspiring
-It's not RWD
-Holy mother of wheel gap in the front
-"You have 60 miles of fuel left" then I pump only 13.5 gallons in?!
-Already seem to have blown one of the tweeters
Other than that it's alright.

the dealer and everyone wants to rip me off as soon as they see the car and I can't even get a drivers side drive axle for this 6sp because no one carries it, in the mean time i commute 120 miles to work and have to put up with the shimmy every day

Overall I do like my maxima more over time, because financially being able to still use it in its 11th year is pretty good--I didn't have car payments for about for almost 4 full years (I bought an '07 car and started the 5 yr. thing again). The car failed inspection for the first time this year, but 10/11 aint' bad.
What I don't like is the relatively high prices for OEM parts. Example, the right fog lamp listed for $185. Huhnnnnh? An OEM on a '07 BMW is ony $125. Even with 30% off list, $127 is no picnic for a broken fog. Lucky eBay had them for $41. But for the parts we can't get on eBay (and let's face it some eBay parts are no good, like ball joints etc.), it's pretty expensive.

That's what's been bothering me, the airbag lamp has flashed for about 5 years. I recently reset the computer for about the 100th time, and it's been off for 3 1/2 weeks now. That thing starts flashing during a state inspection, and there goes $800+ dollars. I asked the dealership and they said yes you have to repair it for inspection. I prefer to reset the computer.

The SES is a big deal because most states wont pass a vehicle when it's lit. And that EVAP was frustrating when I tried to DIY, wasted hours of my time and ultimately had to go to the dealership anyway.

1) CEL light p0430...either precat or o2 sensor...
2) steering radius
3) chassis softness
4) that damn airbag light
5) front driver power seat...the very front of it no longer goes up and down...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.....
6) the paint...need i say more

Personally I think AWD is overrated, but you live in Boston.....I bought my 335 coupe when only the RWD had come out. To this day I don't regret not having an xi. Seriously, if the weather is bad, I just make sure I drive the Maxima. The other 90% of the time my weight is distributed better and I'm getting 1-2 mpg better with less weight, all the while knowing that my rear wheels are pushing the vehicle! imho suspensions necessarily soften up for AWD setups. When there's monstorous hp/torque (imho beyond 450) then ok to AWD.....

The softish brake pedal - it's been like that since day 1.
Buttons on the key fob are easily activated by other stuff in your pocket (other keys, coins, etc.) leaving you with the trunk ajar, doors locked when you didn't want them locked, or the alarm goes off.

When I get into boost in 1st gear, I lose all traction. Even with a Quiaffe differential, just lights both the tires up. 2nd gear is not much better, grip, slip, grip, slip. Jeez.... just ticks me off, freakin Nissan!!!

turning radius sucks especially in parking decks.
Replaced the fuel door twice already due to rust.
replaced two power drivers switches due to passenger window not rolling up all the way using the one touch automatic roll up
fuel economy sucks 21mpg
rust on the inner rear fender wells.
touchy gas pedal
back end saggs when the car is loaded or not ( need stiffer springs)
check engine light comes on at least twice a year for stupid emission problems.

Now that you mention it . . . that huge turning radius is a nuisance at times.
The 20AE pedal covers are definitely Slippery When Wet (apologies to Bon Jovi), so I've had to keep a towel in the trunk for that specific reason. Worth doing with any car, actually.
And the driver's seat power controls have been less reliable than the rest of the car, though that's mostly just a minor niggle.

I took the car to several shops and two Nissan Dealers and it still won't run right. That's what pisses me off about my Maxima. It's cursed I guess. I was thinking of taking a sledge hammer to it. I still can't drive it.

interior seems cheap. Feels like I'm driving a box of frosted flakes
pretty rough ride with only 1.5" drop on oem (i think) struts
Stock speakers would sound better hitting a wall after being shot out of a cannon. Non-Bose wtf and ftl
turning radius
rear beam suspension. Seriously, PT cruisers and old Chrystler minivans have this. not sport sedans
gap from 1-2 larger than all others (2002 6spd)
Alternator went out at 64k just last weds

I love my Maxima, and if I really want to get picky...
Bose woofer cuts out sometimes
Sunken rear wheel failment
The stealership quoting me $38 for a cabin filter and $308 for two rear struts (eff that)
Wheels are pitted (previous owner...)
And I can just *barely* hang with a bolt on 5.0 Mustang (a problem which can be solved, and I didn't necessarily buy the car for the 1/4)
Live rear axle, too much body roll (again, can be solved)

That's (most probably) your problem. Lowering springs are stiffer than OE in virtually all cases and require different shock/strut damping (mostly more rebound damping). You apparently have OE dampers that are not even new.
I suspect that the true mission of this car isn't quite as sport-oriented as the advertising would have you believe. Not that it's bad at it (it isn't), just that a number of compromises (more than just this one) were made with less enthusiastic driving (and the sort of drivers who always drive that way) in mind. In truth, you have to be pushing the car pretty hard for much difference to show up.
The twist beam is not all that heavy, as compared to the live axle in a domestic RWD car (note to MoncefA33 - a live axle must contain drive axle shafts, otherwise it is just a beam axle).
