Hmm, I wonder if the K&N filter would have given even more power?

If generic got you 10hp extra, then I found no reason for switching to the more expensive K&N. Rod Millen is selling the "Generic" filter (the one currently on your Max) for $250 and claims it is a Rod Millen signature product.......
i posted a poll and the people spoke,. they wanted k/n so that's what i bought.

Are you going to dyno with K&N?

DMBMaxima makes 204fwhp and 225fwtq and the Altima makes 200fwhp and 219fwtq. Sorry fellas, both of these cars were dynoed on different days and on different machines. I've said this numerous times before, all Dynojet 248s read a little differently therefore you need to dyno ON THE SAME MACHINE to develop a true comparsion between two cars. That miniscul 2% difference in power.....2%!!!!....can EASILY be attributed to a difference in machines and runs done on different days. It should also be noted that the Altima was dynoed with only 1500miles. I don't know what DMBMaxima's mileage was at the time. On the track, the Maxima vs Altima will clearly come down to driver.
While that maybe true, if you were to overlay the power/torque curves against each other you'll see the maxima has way more midrange torque than the altima Altima vs maxima dynochart. I also believe that the altima will be slightly quicker in the 1/4 though. Since the altima's 3rd gear would take it over 100mph it doesn't need the 3-4 shift. However the maxima will hit the rev limiter in 3rd gear at 94mph, so it has to shift to 4th gear. Since the optimal shift point is around 6000rpm that is about 82-85mph, however at the same speed the altima is pulling its strongest in 3rd gear @ 5400-5600rpm. But this is all bench racing and your results may vary

Another thing we can see from the dynos is the fact that shifting at 6000+rpms is completely pointless. Again, like I've said before, these 3.5 VQ behaves very much like the 4ht gen VQ. It's not a high winding motor. You can choose to shift your 2002 at redline, but you'll be slower. The shift points should be more like this:

1-2 6200
2-3 6000
3-4 5800

Dave
Those shift points are up for debate for the altima and maxima. I put both dyno power curves for both cars into cartest and the maxima's optimal shift points are 6500rpm 1-2, 6100 2-3, 6000 3-4. Remember the 1st gear is taller in the 2k2s so it should be reved alittle higher. Actually outside of the 1-2 shift for the max you are dead on. But the altima on the otherhand should have the 1-2 and 2-3 happen at 6500rpm. From 6000-6500rpm the altima only loses 10hp compare that to the 4th gens. Just for kicks I put in an old 4th gen dyno chart I got (megaMax's car with I/Y/E/ECU). The shift points according to cartest are 6500rpm 1-2, 6100 2-3, 5950 3-4, 5900 4-5. Again very simular to yours.
