You're not going to listen to NY stations ever again unless you check the traffic reports on 1010.

Is this XM radio? My Pioneer 730 is XM compatiable so I don't need a display screen to search thru the channels. I just need the box and the antennae if it's like XM. Could someone shed some light on me before I call and look like an idiot?

No it's Sirius equipment. If you have an auxillary input, I believe you can still use the Sirius equipment with your Pioneer, but you would have to use the extenal controls.

When i called in they said that the unit did not have to be installed but you had to have the unit. To start the service i'm sure that one would need to have it installed but i'm sure they will let you set up a payment plan whether you had it in or not. I believe to set up the 1 year payment plan you only have to have the unit, that is what i was told. I hope the setup info will come in the kit that they are sending.

alright kenwood guys after asking around some people told me it would work fine more people said it would work running a different brand tuner but the display wouldnt show up on your kenwood deck and the final verdict (below) from a rep at crutchfield.

I'll be happy to help with your question about purchasing a Sirius radio
tuner. If you do not use an FM modulator they are brand specific so you
will need to with a Kenwood model. You can find the Kenwood KTC-SR901
tuner at the link below:

so i guess we are out of luck on this deal. keep me posted if anyone finds a similar deal that includes kenwood components.

If you have a kenwood with an aux input you should still be able to run the kit without using the FM modulator. Whats so bad about running the FM modulator anyway. I haven't had any experience with satellite radio and fm modulation but i've heard people with CD changers that use it and it sounds alright to me. Let me know because i plan on running the Panasonic kit through the aux input on my pioneer deck. I read on the Cartoy's website under the SIRIUS radio installation section that this would be possible.

i have a pioneer unit as well, but in order to use the AUX i have to buy an adapter for the radio, make sure you dont need one before you try and install it. i have a DEH-P740MP unit and i have to but a CD-rb10 or cd-rb20 adapter.

That adapter is used to turn your IP-Bus (cd changer plug) into an aux input. I already have a dedicated aux input so i won't need that adapter. I have 4 sets of RCAs on the back of my deck highs, mids, subs, and aux in addition to the ip-bus for a cd changer. Good looking out though.

The only drawback to using an FM modulator is it won't sound as clean or crisp (or other such words). FM sound would be somewhat compressed due to less bandwidth being used to transmit the signal from the Sirius receiver to your deck.

Granted, for most people, even FM radio sounds just fine, so it may not bother you at all. Though, if you were able to compare an FM modulated Sirius tuner with a direct wired Sirius tuner, you'd likely hear the difference.

Um.......it's clearer than a regular FM channel with the modulator. Bass hits hard as shyte too.

But, I dont know how they plan to keep up with it. When you activate online, they dont seem to have any record of how you got the equipment. They ask you for a new CCard number and just need the actual ESN number off your receiver.

I wouldn't worry too much about deadlines and minimum contracts...
FYI....When you order the product you give your credit card. If a unit isnt activated, they will charge the card. So if you want to pay monthly, please activate before the deadline of March 26th!

Any questions, consider me the Maxima.org Sirius Specialist!

Does the system have to activated by 3/26, or just have the activation scheduled by 3/26?

If you schedule it, it is considered activated. So go online and schedule the activation. When you get it installed, you will have to call to get the signal sent again, but that is no big deal.

Kenwood now makes an adaptor that gives there current tuner, the KTC901SR, line outputs. THis will allow you to use it FM modulated or connect it to line in on a head unit.

Only partially true. The reason it doesnt sound quite as good is that you are limited to the frequency that your FM tuner is limited to. The signal sent to your car is always the same digital quality. But it will sound much better than a regular FM station.

Where do you live. I cover the SE and might be able to get you the free deal from a dealer if you buy the ant and get it installed. I cover the SE for Sirius.

Mine didn't come today so I called them. They said they had a little backorder on the Panasonic so mine wasn't shipped until Friday. They said it should be here tomorrow though.
