lol, no i don't. but iron has better heat characteristics than aluminum does. hence why the 300zx tt used the vg30dett, iron block. and it could handle plenty of boost stock. granted it had lower compression as well, but still.. i'm not saying it's an absolute requirement, but it's not definitely a bad idea either.
I don't think you understand what they're saying. The Maxima already has iron sleeves from the factory.

no @H!t, eh? considering i've never had it apart, i didn't know any better. not to mention the mechanic i talk to at the dealership told me that was the reason not to supercharge the engine, or at least much, is the all aluminum block... dealerships...... ugh. now i look like an idiot, oh well. in that case, boost away!!! (with lower compression of course

I occasionally get boost spikes when I push hard. it can boost to upto 9-10 psi. I think this is normal, is this normal boost creep or a little more than I should expect? I have a boost controller now, I need to set it, should that help?
I have not been able to catch the condition under which this happens ... I am too busy racing
! I think it happens when I drop a gear or two, but I am not sure. Anyway, I have wired in a warning buzzer when overboost happens so I can catch it more easily, the flashing LED just doesn't do it!
As far as iron sleeves go, I was wondering if thicker sleeves would help?

Good to hear you're getting close!
I got email from you the other day ... seemed kind a weird cos you were replying to someone else. Didn't understand what was going on.My car is still not fully tuned yet. I am running about 5 psi or so. I installed a boost controller and all the warning gauges. If it overboosts I can hear a beep and get off the throttle. It's kind of weird that it does that, don't really know why yet. I am hoping the boost controller will fix that. Almost blew up the engine the other day cos I had the boost controller in the wrong mode. Got up to 10 psi!!
It would have gone higher too if I hadn't backed off. My boost gauge saved my butt, definitely get an electronic warning gauge! $200 is worth it, believe me! As far as road kills, I have posted one so far against an Acura TL-S. BOOST IS FUN!

Man it must have felt fast as hell @10 psi!!! Sounds like the warning indicator is a must I'll look into it, Thanks.
A couple words for Nigel, UncleMax and Turbo95Max
First off I have to commend you all for being among a handful of people that actually decided to undertake such a task of doing a custom turbo kits. You could have kept this secret and told others to figure it out on their own, but you shared your knowledge. Instead of being appreciative some people were demanding and whining about the costs or lack of installation instructions.
A turbo kit for $2600, hell I wish that I could have waited longer instead of buying my SC kit. I think that any owner in their right mind who would consider undertaking doing a custom project would not skimp out and make a crappy kit for their daily driven cars to save on money or time. You all have done well with your cars. Your kit seems very reasonable and I would like to get one, but I just have to pay off some college debts, convert to LSD, sell the SC, etc... . There is a ton of interest to get you project into the hands of the masses and we need time to get our finances in order.
For those of you that are confused about differences b/t turbos and superchargers lets see if I can explain it easily in a nutshell. Turbos are so much more efficient than superchargers because there is no horsepower lost to make boost. Superchargers use gear drives off of the crankshaft and take power to make power. Turbos use the power of your exhaust gases, so your driving agent to make power comes freely and at no loss of power to make power. Add on an intercooler and bigger exhaust piping and WOOHOO!
I just wanted to personally say thank you to you, UncleMax and turbo95Max for trying this out and making a viable alternative to Stillens Supercharger kit. Good job and way to go you guys!

How are the transmissions holding out?
I think I heard that the 5-speeds just have clutch slippage or where there other problems? Anything wrong with the AT's handling this power? Any modifications need to be done besides a modified VB, tranny cooler, and TC? Think that a complete rebuild needs to be done on the AT to handle all that power?

I know that a tranmission swap would be the only way that you could bolt on a turbo at this point. The thing is that provisions are being made so that there can be a turbo on an AT. When that day does come my questions are these:
*Would a AT transmission with LSD from a Canadian spec I30 be able to handle that kind of power or would the transmission internals have to be done also?
*Would the LSD transmission for AT's that Shadow is working on be able to handle this much power?
*If it can not handle the power, what else needs to be strengthened?
*Does the LSD transmission just make both wheels have more grip or are the internals improved to handle higher hp as well?
I know that it would probably be cheaper to do the 5-speed conversion, but is there a clutch out there that can handle this kind of power and still remain streetable?

I'm only working on the differential. The diff will take this kind of power. But you're going to need to do some extreme work on the auto tranny to do it.

Few questions Nigel
1. I see that the front bumper support beam had to be cut to fit the intercooler. Is your intercooler that much larger than Unclemax's intercooler? He was able to fit his right under the support beam.
2. Did you have to cut any more metal to get the pipings from the intercooler to the engine bay? Unclemax's pipings went through the fender part of the car which require relocating the windshield fluid tank. Yours seems to go under where the lower support beam for the radiator is. Wouldn't the piping more prone to damage from bottoming out or careless parking job.

Re: Few questions Nigel
Please see my comments:
>> Don't know if you saw the Group deals page 3, there are pretty clear pics there about how the piping is routed. We had to cut two 3 inch holes to accommodate the I/C
As far as damage goes it is no worse than Alex's setup. Not sure about Matthel's. The piping itself is not so prone to damage as much as the intercooler. You just have to be careful.

>> Alex's looks smaller but I don't KNOW that for sure. If it fits underneath AND does not go below the spoiler line, then it MUST be smaller.

Just looked at your set up! Looks really trick! Nice! A lot of chrome! I like chrome but it's too much work for me to keep clean. I am lazy!

Any shop that knows their stuff should be able to do it. I mean, its like a puzzle, only fits together one way.
