Just to put things in perspective... A stage 1 turbo (320rwhp) 7 psi cost 6500 bucks without the install. Talk about expensive. I thought us maxima guys had it bad in terms of inflated aftermarket prices....

That sucks for them
Horsepower per dollar??? So the turbo kit kit puts out 4,100 Horses to the wheels? ... LOL I'm not spammin' just in a laughing mood.
I can't wait to get a turbo kit for myself. If only my partner with his Legend can have a turbo kit too.

Ok, hi. I just bought a '97 maxima and am brand new to nissan. I've been working mostly with honda/acura. Believe it or not, I just spent and hour and 15 min reading through this entire thread when I should be studying, but wutever.
So anyway, I am totally into this turbo kit, but it'll take me a couple months to pull that kind of cash together. In the meantime, like I said, i read thru all 17 pages, and i am a little confused as to what is actually included and necessary to run this kit. I saw the first page with the pricing and whats included, but as the pages progressed i noticed people talking about other things that should be and have been added on. I was wondering if, for a sec, I could ask what the current setup is?
Thanks for the heads up and all the work put into it. Keep us updated on progress.

Automatic kit available
Hi
Good news! The auto kit is possible! We will wait for the first order before fabricating any. We have access to an auto to do the kit. The bad news is that it will be $100-$200 more for the kit because the piping is more complex to bend and also needs some support clamps as well as replacement of two rubber hoses with steel braided lines.
The only major concern we have is whether the auto transmission can hold the torque from the engine. The torque I have is much more than almost any I have seen on the superchargers. I think there may be one running S/C, NOS. We are most worried about this! If you are running 5-7 psi it won't be a problem though.
Another piece of bad/semi bad news. I have updated the pricing. The battery relocation kit was not part of original price. Good news is I added the air filter in for a nore complete kit. The Battery relocation kit they provide is kind of cheesy. It is not NHRA approved, so you can't take it to the track without some modification. You can opt to buy your own and save yourself $50. I would recommend you buy your own from Summit racing or somewhere similar.

Well, that's just too bad, I already got a 5-speed coming my way for my max. YAYAYAYAY. So in the near future, still be expecting an order. BTW, Nigel, what specific length does the turbine outlet have to be from the compressor outlet? Because if I get a diff. turbo, and it is a diff. length, it will not work with your kit. Thanks guy. And one more thing, the downpipe goes "down" out of the turbo, which way/direction/angle does the boosted air go when you are standing in front of the max? I am trying to visualize your setup. Thanks guy, you da' pimp.

I am not sure I understand your question very well. The compressor outlet can be any length (within reason)If it is long, you just need to cut the pipe a little. I am not a turbo expert (in that I do not know about all the turbo outlet types). If you were to let us know what type of turbo you want, we can get it for you or you can get it yourself. In any case, the pipes can be custom made to fit. As for boosted air question. It goes straight down and then forward to the intercooler.

Hey jome80627
Hey fellow Chicagoan!
I too am interested in getting this turbo. I have not found any reputable installer in Chicago. How do you plan on installing this kit? Do you have a shop in mind. Maybe we can both go there and get some discount on labor!
Let me know...

well...i would first like to get a hold of the kit...As far as shops. I know of a shop called Sound Performance out in Bloomingdale,IL. They do good work as far as installing turbos. OTher than that,i'm not to sure who I would trust doing the work. There's also Driver's Image. If worst comes to worst, I'll make a trip to CO. We'll see
Will buying the piping only be an option. Mainly if I dont have the 4grand to jump in right now (school, car loan, life in general) would I be able to get the piping and then pick up the other parts I will need as I go along. Sometimes people I know can get good deals on various parts and I could therfore save a little possibly in the long run. Will buying just the pipe be an option? If so any idea how much?
Except for the Y pipe I guess because I wouldnt need that until everything else was already bought. Plus I already have a Bpipe as well so exhaust should be fine.

Drivers Image will rip you off on the install
If you have the tuner in CO do it & later something goes wrong...you are on your own...
Wish Nigel would provide detailed installation instructions, so atleast we can understand what all is involved in installing this kit.
well, i know Gregg over at Driver's image somewhat. Sound Performance has done turbos on anything and everything before..and i've seen their work, so I trust them to a certain extent..I'd have to call the both of them and see what they say, considering i'm bringing a kit from somewhere else....Hopefully, Nigel will be online sometime soon, because I really like the way his kit sounds so far.

What size is your B pipe? If its not 3" it will choke off the turbo. That is why Nigel did the 3" exhaust, because it was being choked off.
