my eibach suspension is making noise
I put an eibach pro kit on my 98 I30 about 2 weeks ago, and now the front makes a mettle on mettle noise when hitting sharp bumps in the road. It doesnt seem to be localized to one wheel, but only the front end. It only does this when its a small harsh bump, sounds like a sort of creak. I didnt replace my struts or strut mounts when replacing the springs. Could this just be a case of the strut bearing not tight enough, or something else?

Did you use the original coil wrap or wrap them at all. It may just be the springs rubbing together.
You don't tighten the strut bearing. Of course double check all your bolts to make sure they are tight. Blown struts will make noises sometimes but that is usually a clunk type noise.
You can try the WD-40 method of spraying certin areas of the suspension and seeing if that stops the noise. If it does then you know where it's comming from and can go from there.

its a pretty hard noise to describe, its not really a creak, its more like a thud thats not well pronounced. I didnt use the stock coil wrap because it was all rotted up, I just put them on. Do you think thats where my problem lies?

Sounds like a bad strut maybe or it could even be the control arm. How long have you been using the stock struts with the Eibachs and how many miles total are on the struts?
If it was a coil wrap issue you would be getting a squeak or creaking noise not a thud.
Trying to diagnose noises over the internet is impossible.

Coil wrap is not what woudl alredy be on there. You are thinking of spring isolators. Coil wrap is plastic that you buy elsewhere and wind around the coils. It is not an OEM component.
Like Mike said, it is impossible to diagnose noises over the internet, and what you have described does not sound like a coil wrap problem, though it could be the lack of coil isolators.
Go to your regional forum (DC, like me) and see if someone wants to help you out in person.
I am willing to try, and cutlr7 (Jason Renolds) would be a good guy as well. He knows his stuff. I will be around Fairfax this evening and would take a listen to it for you.
