Airfilter recommendations?

I like to replace my air filter every 6 months or so, usually buy whatever Autozone/Pepboys/Advanced Auto has the cheapest

Do you guys recommend buying all new filters every 6 months or so, or should I invest in one of those drop in K&N cleanable filters? (Do they make one?)

I live in a particularly "dusty" area, constuction has been going on and in my subdivision for a few weeks.

Isn't there some sort of re-oiling process after you wash it? I haven't acually cleaned mine yet, but I'm pretty sure you have to lubricate it again with the K&N oil or jelly or whatever it is.

There is a kit you can buy that comes with cleaner and new oil.
