Dealers = expensive

I had my car go in for some maintence, and well my HU was broken, out of curiosity i emailed bose to ask them about my HU prob, well inturn they told it would be ~125 to be fixed, and it had to be done through the dealer. well I gave them the go ahead and it cost 375 to have it fixed, im really heated, but its better than paying 600 for my type r sound system id put in other wise, or buy a PAC4 converter to swap in a new hu and keep the speakers. im just really pissed thatm it cost soo much more, but i just want music again and the rest of the system is holding up just fine, but i had some other stuff fixed which made me really happy, sorry i just needed to vent alil, and just to think how much they charge to do stuff, im saying to myselkf they better have my HU installed in under a half an hour, it takes me 15 to take it out

Yeah, Bose charges $125 for fixing. You forgot that Infiniti charges like double that for the labor.

If you know a person in the audio business such as shops, talk to them, they get big discounts. or at least mine does.

Hey that sucks about the price, but I just wanted to let you know that you can put in an aftermarket HU and still keep your speakers without having to buy the PAC4 Converter. That is how mine is set up and it works fine. Just FYI in case you wanted to someday get an aftermarket HU.

well it depends on what kind of HU too, like clarion is responsible for alot of the bose Hu, but the reasonw hy its not compatable is because of the input/output voltages to the amp i believe, but im not really in a position to be ****ing around with it

If you have to deal with this again, look at www.carstereohelp.com. They provide detailed instructions on the removal of the HU and they repair pretty cheaply. Plus, they seem to really know Bose products. I've never used them myself, but I've known people who have and they have been very satisfied.
