I noticed something strange this past week with my rear-view mirror on my I30. When I turn on the car all of the digital lights in the rear-view mirror screen light up. One of them is a degree symbol and It looked like it had the ability to display not only N,S,E & W, but also temperatures. I'ved looked in the manual and screwed with the buttons and cant figure out if there is a way to display the temperature.

Am I missing something really simple here or is that feature just not enabled? Anyone else notice this?

What year car do you have? I have an auto dim mirror that I installed aftermarket with the digital compas and mine shows the same thing on start up, but I dont have the temp feature on mine. I think you can have either the digital temp and compass or just the digital compas. I think WE have just the auto dim with the digital compas.
I did buy a brand new auto dim with digital compas and digital temp with ice warning and LED map lights for my wifes suv though and I have yet to install it.

If you want a new mirror let me know and I can give you the hook up on that.

I may be wrong, ut the mirror looks like the same unit that goes in GM vehicles. In those cars, you can select between compass/temp. On my '02, the temp is selectable in the instrument cluster information guage.

What do you mean by getting the hook on these mirrors?

I was looking at them a while back (ones w/ compass/temp/color changing LEDs) and they were something like $400-$500!!! I decided it wasn't worth it for a damn mirror.

For that price Ill just put the money twards the NAV unit I want... Im sure that will have a compass. lol

NewLoveI30: I can hook you up with a reputable guy that sells these made by Gentex and you can buy one brand new from him with the digital compas, digital temp, ice warning, LED map lights, and auto dim for around $219 I believe.

I have purchased from this guy 2 or 3 times in the past and he is great! He does it on the side and he is very quick to ship and is there to answer any questions you may have.

I actually purchased the mirror described above from him a few months ago for my wifes SUV and still need to install it. He is the cheapest I have found anywhere.

So, does anyone find it odd that my mirror would have the capability of displaying temperature, but yet it only displays compass? Has anyone else noticed this on their I30/I35?

The mirrors used on the I30 are not made by Nissan/Infiniti. They buy them from another company that's why if you look at a GM vehicle with an auto dimming mirror it looks exactly the same as the mirror in your I30. Because your auto climate control displays the temp ("AMB" Button) the temp display in the mirror in your I30 was most likely not installed or was de-activated.
