Max Won't Start

Hello fellow Maxima owners,

My Max won't start. I took it to the car wash and washed off the engine. After I finished, the car would not stay running unless I keep my foot on the gas pedal. I got the car home with no problem. The next morning I went to start it up it idled very bad and acted like it was going to shut off. I decided to drive my other car to work. Later on in the day I tried to start it again and it will not start. I have bought a new coil, distributer cap and rotor, and new plug wires. The car tries to run but shuts off. Does anyone know what else I might need to check before I tow it to the shop?

You've got to be extremely careful when you wash the engine compartment, there are a ton of sensors that could have been damaged as a result. I'd check the computer codes and see if you do have any bad sensors, that's what I would assume if the problem occured right after you washed the engine compartment. And the worst part is that most of the sensors are really expensive for this car.

Also, could be the Alternator is dead...
Happened with me as well. It will start only if it is jumped... then if it stops.. It will NOT start again.... chances are the alternator is dead

I would also check the MAF sensor, and the electrical harnesses for the fuel injection, it could be you got some water in those.
