New dilemma
New dilemma
There are a few things going weirdy on my baby pearl
1st My transmission no longer goes in reverse
2nd I have an exhaust leak in either them IM or before the flex pipe.
3rd My (e) brake light ( on dash ) stays on for some weird crazy reason.
My question for the semi-experts is how hard would it be to correct these problems?
I am some what mechanically inclined and can be coached to getting the job done.
I know a lot of people would reply with the ve5 swap but, I read that it is not as easy as it sounds. I don’t want to let my baby down. Can someone please shed some light on the ole girly I call Pearl?

1st..Your transmission is going out..Replacement/rebuild/or manual swap are your only options.
2nd..exhaust leak at the IM?..Do you mean EM(exhaust manifold)?Either way your going to have to crawl under the car while it's running to verify where the leak is coming from.
3rd..Does the brake light stay on even while the car is off(keys out of the ignition)?

btw..the regular forum search is turned on for all users now,no more google search..
If the brake light stays on when releasing the brake pedal then the brake switch is either maladjusted or has a burned together set of contacts.
This is a safety issue and should not be happening - ie - the brake lights MUST still be working when the car is switched off - if its not somebody screwed with your wiring and this needs to be fixed too.

if the dash light is on, you may need a new master cylinder because it doesn't have the correct pressure according to the sensor on it.
that being said we had a 78 camaro that always had the brake light on, bought it that way and sold it that way. Brakes worked fine
probably a bad switch on the master
from what i understand, the "e-brake light" on the dash is staying on, correct?
if so, you should probly check ur brake fluid and probly brake pads too.
if it's the actual brake lights (tail lights) then I think someone already said something about that...

+1. Always check this first, it is almost always the culprit to the light being on in the car. I didn't bother checking mine because it was so close to being the right amount of fluid, but apparently that less than an oz. of fluid made the light come on when I turned too hard and stuff.
