Nitrous and the Law......

Here's some interesting information I found about the Law and using Nitrous. I've been wondering what the consequences would be if you got caught. Anyone else that has knowledge to add regarding the details of this law broken down, please do so. I'm all ears, and I'm sure the others here that run nitrous is also.

I only use nitrous at the track as you can see my trunk only has the bottle bracket and nitrous accesories but it doesn't have a bottle.

I don't think you can get any safer than that.

To my knowledge in Georgia, you can have everything in place just as long as the feed tube is not connected to the bottle. If the feed tube is not connected then you can not use it.

I didn't think it was illegal to have it. Hell, it's stupid to outlaw it. It's just a power adder like a supercharger. Are they going to outlaw superchargers too? I hate laws.

ive heard the same thing

ive been pulled over several times with the bottle hooked up but never using it and the cops were ussually cool about it (they saw it on the back floor when the shined there flashlight in) one asked me if it was scuba gear another asked if that was the reason my front tires were bald another asked me if it really made my car faster i wonder what he would have said if i asked him if he wanted to find out

in mass you can have the line hooked up but the system cannot be pressurized. the laws in mass are very grey so the police will bust you anyways wether its pressurized or not. they cannot do anything if your bottle is just disconnected. but i do know that they will slap you with a fine of up to $2500 for the bottle $500 for racing then whatever else they bag you for. a buddy of mine got slapped with crossing the center line, wreckless driving, indangerment, speeding, improper lane change(failure to signal), improper equipment(car too low, muffler)and of course racing. but he didnt get bagged for the bottle, the officer didnt look in the trunk. im not sure but i think he got a $1000 ticket and he had to go to court. moral to the story, racing is not bad..... losing with the cops behind you IS.

Your telling me there's a law that says it's illegal to have a nitrous system pressurized on your car while driving and if caught they can fine you two thousand five hundred dollars!??

Is this only if you get caught racing?

No, b/c they assume that if the system is pressurized, then you must be up to no good

how do the cops know you have n2o?

how do they even see the bottle in your trunk? driving fast or even having gauges in the car are not enough 'probable cause' for a trunk search. just kindly decline having that area searched, even if they have a drug dog they are probably not trained to detect laughing gas.
