Bad Luck Continues....Tranny related.

Well I've had that tranny whine for some time, but never had a problem getting the car into gear or grinding any of the gears. Well I was driving home Friday after work and Im turning onto the street to my house and as Im in first gear about to shift into 2nd I hear a bang type noise. I let off and go into 2nd and the sound continues bang bang bang type clunking noise. Try all the gears and its like that in every gear.

I have no idea what could have went wrong but from the sound of it something has screwed up in the tranny case. Guess I'll do the transmission when I do the motor swap now. Since the cars not driveable anymore I will push myself to get this done finally and get the car healthy again.

Any ideas on what could have happened? The car makes no noise unless its in gear in motion...

I was about to say passenger side axle carrier bearing

It was about at 5k in first and I didn't even get to shift before it happened. Im not sure what it is, the car still goes into gear fine but its just a terrible clunk noise about every rotation when in gear.

So you have been driving the car with the bad motor?

Maybe the input shaft bearing busted.

Yes the car was driveable, actually didnt run bad at all just slow as crap. I have no idea what happened, I'll just get the tranny swapped out when Im getting the motor swapped. Then I'll drive like a pu$$ so hopefully nothing will break again.

so just to clarify

does it only make the noise when your moving in gear

or when your moving in nutral

or both in nutral and in gear when moving

or when your stopped in gear

When My tranny went It made the exact same sound. I stripped 10 teeth off the ring gear. Total rebuild cost was 1300.
