Ain't you sumthin ?? Not bad for your first time out, but...

I figured you had plenty of HP at the top end -from your dyno-, but that you don't have launches figured out - yet. The 1/8 times are weak, and the traps were great. There is hope. That car has a 13.4 in it. Maybe better as you learn it.

You are launching a stock Maxima with short slicks and automatic from the line. This is slow. When your turbo spools up and you have 3+ psi of boost, then you start making HP. The turbo spool is taking way too long to make pressure. Did you notice when you had +3 psi? What RPMs and what gear?

Think about this: You have my Shift_Fast_3 controller set to shift at 6500 in each gear. It controls a 75-shot nitrous spray in first-gear only. You launch WOT on the slicks, hit spray at 2500, spray until the 1-2 shift, automatically lock the TC clutch going into 2nd gear at 5000 RPMs with serious boost now, rev to 6500 again and spin the slicks shifting into 3rd gear and going through the traps at 110+. And a 13.4 ET... And all you have to do is stomp the pedal just before the light goes green.......

Gives you sweaty palms, doesn't it?

I think you need to really study how long the turbo takes to build boost. With the tailpipe-turbo, I bet it takes longer than a front-mounted turbo. A high-stall torque converter might help spool up, but I bet a 3000 RPM stall will be needed.

Lots of potential here. Lots - but you gotta learn your car and figure how to use it.

I've had family drama to deal with lately, so I'm still waiting to do a serious dyno. I'll have time again after this weekend. What can you do - it's family?

The car is locked and loaded, headers with cutout, new side-gapped plugs, fresh Mobil1, a full 15lb bottle in the trunk and 5 gal of 103 octane in the tank, DRs mounted for the dyno, and I have my tow truck back from Kansas City.

changing gears (no pun intended... lol) for a sec....this setup ia a foundation for a twin turbo setup.... of course rear mounted.. I believe you will need a TRUE dual exhaust setup such as Meximax.....

got the gears rollin....

Streetz, good work to you and to those who helped you out.....

for the transmission, i have Mobil 1 ATF synthetic fluid, B&M transmission cooler, Drop resistor, and thats about it. Other than that, its stock with 130K miles on it.

Some turbo/sc guys on here build their auto's to handle the power, so far mine hasnt had any problems. Iv been with the turbo for 5months or so, and was on nitrous before that, so its taken a beating. I dont know if I am lucky or my style of daily driving but alot of guys with alot less power damage their transmission very easily. Or as soon as they go boost or nitrous their tranny dies, dont kno why that is.

Well alot of you were asking if it was possible to put a muffler. well here you have it.

The car is now EXTREMELY QUIET. More quiet than when it was n/a like almost stock quiet lol. With a/c on full blast, you cant hear it at all lol. im very happy. Now I wont attract to many ricers trying to race me. This is a Dynomax Superturbo 17733

Well, I still get 10psi and i think its at the same time as before so spool up didnt get affected. Its hard to determine if it did affect performance. Maybe if i log and see wat the air flow looks like I might be able to tell.

Nice, purely nice! This is a great set up. Did you run the intake hoses that go back to the engine beside or near the exhaust pipe going to the back? Forgive me if I missed this but with 14 pages you tend to skim through it.

Piping is directly below the driver side, i'd say like directly below the driver seat. maybe bout 1 foot or two away from the exhaust.

No way, the turbo is way up there, if i were to scrape it i would first have to scrape the fuel tank.

Since you didnt expand on this, allow me the pleasure . (I am not trying to change the focus of this towards this race, but this is a good comparison of what this setup is capable of doing. It was out in a deserted road, so no people/ animals were endangered during this ).

- S2k (intake and full exhaust is what I could tell from the sound), only driver inside
- Streetz (all his stuff set to 10psi, tools and junk in the backseat, ME in the back seat, his lady in the front seat- yes, 2 passengers and junk inside)

A friend hunked it off, roll from about 30mph, S2k hopped about 1/2 a car up until streetz's car spooled up. Streetz just started slowly walkin away from him. By ~80mph we were already a car ahead of this S2k. Got a thumbs up from him and all.

My Impressions from this event- My 3.5 swap is a slow POS compared to this monster . The muffler made for one hell of a sleeper. Dude thought it was NA or spraying up until it spooled up. Spooling sound is much lower, which kind of sucks IMO cus I loved that sound, but the droning loudness is gone so whatever it takes I guess. What he says is right about the car just sounding like a stock sports car. Its louder than a normal car, but no where as loud as before. Its probably at the same volume as a stock Z33 exhaust, which isnt bad at all.

Afterwards while braking, S2k dude pulled up infront and looked back lookin for the intercooler !!!!!

Go streetz go!!!!!!

Hmm, well that trap speed might be too high, but 12s are very possible with what i have planned.

edit: btw only thing i have planned is just to finally hook the slicks lol

I have an announcement to make-

I will now unveil the SECRET of streetzlegend's setup. That turbo and nitrous and alcohol is only half the story....

Yes, your eyes do no fool you. The motor does not run on Mobil1, it runs on Michealob Amberbock

Sorry dude, I found the picture and I just had to, LOL.

***************************

Back on topic, weather has sucked here in Florida the last few "possible track days", but as soon as we can get a clearing, we're gonna go and bring back one of two things

#1- New PB records
or
#2- Getting towed back or pushing the cars into a canal, LOL

I know I'm one hundred percent a newbie to this forum, but I am not a noob when it comes to vehicles. i just recently got my maxima and love the car. It's everything i expected. Long story short. I have done a STS style turbo on a Trans Am i used to own and loved the easy install and the cheap cost and reliability. Well now i want it on my maxima. Question is, my friend has a factory Subaru 18G turbo. If i were to run it in place of the muffler with a truly stock motor. Would it be safe or even be worth it? I wanna be on the cheap and reliable. I don't wanna go more than 6 PSI if that. I expect since its a .50 ar turbo. It should spool really low about 2500 to 2800 am i correct? And another thing. It is a water and oil cooled turbo. Can a dry-sump, catch can, etc work for the water as in a box with two lines and use the turbo to return the water? Thanks for any help. I would have posted by own topic, But i can't do that yet
