Monroe Sensa-Track struts..
Anyone have any experience with these? I need new struts on the front of my Max, and these are on sale right now - buy one get the second one 1/2 price. The car is stock, and I don't plan on lowering or anything like that.
I'm also wondering how hard it is to remove the spring on the old strut to transfer it to the new one. I know I can borrow a spring compressor from local store for free, but the instructions on it say to use an impact wrench to turn the bolts that compress the spring. Is it possible to do this with just my ratchet set and a cheater bar, or do you really need the power of the air tool?

Well Monroe is not the greatest brand in shocks. I suggest you pay a bit more and go with KYB Gr-2's from our sales member on the org, his org name is internetautoma I think. My friend had Monroe's on his 1991 and they were dead in a short period of time and swtiched to Tokico's immediately when I did his Eibach spring install. The first time I ever used spring compressors I did it with a ratchet, its time consuming but now I use an electric impact gun that makes it much easier. Do not buy Monroe's!

Most peoples problem with the monroes actually stems from people using the monroematic instead of the sensatrac. the monromatic is a cheap strut that only lasts about a year.
