took out and 2000 civic SI

True. A Chevy dealer once told me that Honda made VTEC as a gas saving feature . Also consider the age difference between the youngest 3rd gen (1994) and the oldest Si (1999). Most of the 3rd gens I see around town have seen better days . I'm just waiting for some guy to see my post and claim his 89 GXE will beat my Lude off the line . Okay, I'm done insight a revolt.

VTec
Vtec was indeed created to save gas.. it uses's 3 lobes on the camshaft instead of the conventional 2... well actually during normal driving it only use`s 2 lobes to save gas.. but when u gun it.. the computer then activates the 3rd lobe causing better timing on the vavles therefore makeing it more effiect.. unleashing the power it has
all it is , is computer controlled valve timing .. like vvti on toyotas and all that fun stuff

I suppose you can look at it that way. But consider this, the first Honda engine with VTEC was the Acura NSX back in 1990 I believe. So while the VTEC may end up netting you better gas mileage in the long haul, its primary purpose was to extract maximum power out of those high revving four cylinders (or 6 cylinder in the case of the NSX and Accord).

The new Celicas handily embarass the Integras (with the exception of the late lamented Type R) but the RSX Type S has replaced the Integra so the favor goes back to Honda. Yeah, VTC makes alot of power for the Max too, if you count the 15 horsepower adding by the "diesel sound effects" .

Yeah, the 3rd gens have an LSD, right? Wish my Prelude did. If I tried that (dropping the clutch at high rpms) I'd get mad axle hop. I basically have to feather it from high rpms which isn't good for the clutch to be sure, but what are warranties for? As far as taking out Civic EXs....well, congrats. Just be glad it wasn't one of those super special edition Civic EX-Rs with automatic, unpainted bodykit, and aluminum racing wing. You really need the downforce of that wing when you are at your top speed of 108mph .

Should be......
pretty even......the VE should take the Accord off the line, then the Accord will catch up and it will most likely even out, after that its anyones game.....

I can see you saying that for the 2 door coupe. But I have ran with the 4 door at it is no match I kill em all over high and low end. Pretty sad when 10 year old Maxima's are still running with Brand New Cars.
