Either a bad clutch master cylinder(top left hand corner on the firewall),or the operating cylinder(on the transmission bell housing) are most likely your problem.

To answer your question, no, you do not have to have the HU display. But most people seek that mod.

if you find a car with a digital dash and HUD and you don't want the HUD unit.. put it in the 3rd gen classified section. it WILL sell. I guarantee it.

New Kid

I am planning to buy a 3rd gen Maxima and this will be my first Nissan. I'm making this switch from a 1995 Honda Civic. I'm new to the Nissan market and I'm asking where I could buy a VG30DE and what modifications would I have to make to the car for the motor to fit. Also, what quick bolt-ons are there for some cheap horsepower, where I live Hondas rule the road. I'm wanting to create a Maxima Sleeper that would burn Civics on the street

The VG30DE will not fit into the maxima engine bay, period.

Reliable horsepower is not cheap,ever.

A turbocharged 3rd gen makes for a nice sleeper..No,there is not a bolt on turbo kit available for our cars,It all has to be pieced together, along with much exhaust welding/fabrication.

good luck..

WON'T
FIT

the 92-94 SE had a vE30de, that swap has been done to other 3rd gens..
no kit, or anything will make a vgde fit. period. it is too big.
wanna make it go fast? strip it down, reducing weight everywhere. add a turbo, doing your own fabrication. throw a JWT ecu, and cams in. regear the tranny. add nitrous.
same **** as a honduh, 10 years ago, before everybody was fast and furious.

start with a 92-94 SE and a 5 speed. You will have no problem dealing with most civics.
after that add a UDP, Y-pipe, Flywheel, light weight wheels some suspension mods and you're go to go.

Sub mount

Well I have a 12" sub in the back of my max, but It is in about a square foot box. At the current time it is not mounted, because of my lead foot I have a tendancy to have it flop around the back of my trunk witha resounding THUMP. it has a tendancy to come unpluged to my dimay, has anyone else mounted a sub in the trunk of their maxima? if so how did they mount it down, Just wondering?

A couple L brackets mounted to each side of the side of the box, then mount to the trunk floor.

Some strips of velcro(hook side) mounted to bottom of the box will work also, but the L brackets will work better in the long run..

You can create your own signature by going into your user cp function at the top left of the page..

Rough idle? - car vibrates when I stop

I have been having this problem where my 1994 nissan maxima sohc would vibrate sometimes a little bit and sometimes a lot whenever I was stopped but the car was stilll running .. at times the yellow check engine light would come on and te car from the inside had a noticable putt putt sound along with the vibration. At first I thought I had a case of bad gas so I used both the fuel injector cleaner and some Heet product to remove any water from the gas .. this seemed to work where the engine check light went off and the putt putt sound and vibration eased .. but the check engine light did not come on but i still had the vibration ..... I had the spark plugs changed, but still had the vibbration, changed the spark plug wires and the vibration eased up but soon returned so I had the rotor and cap replaced and at times there is no vibration and other times the severe vibration is back and the check engine comes on sometimes .. what does yall suggest be the next step and please speak in a lil detail as I donot understand what certain abbreviations are like maf, etc ... Thanks

Never found what I want here....

I gotta say, I've never found what I was looking for here at Maxima.org,,,
Oh I find plenty to read and enjoy for hours on end, lot's of good info tucked away "for some other time".

Today I'm looking for a schematic of the headlamp/directional switch, no way dude! I've the right low beam out. Everything else works. I know it's not the bulb. No "juice" getting to the plug at the head lamp. Already cleaned the contacts in the switch. I ran a jumper/wire from the switch to the lamp (which actually worked for 2 days). I know which poles are open/closed in any/all positions on the switch, but I need to know which wires go to what.

The "click" out to the manuals at Kragens, (or where ever?), has everything under the sun, except a "91 Maxmima". My Haynes and Chiltons manuals are "clear as mud".
Frustrating. I could go start buying and swapping parts in and out, but that's expensive, time consuming and the shop may/may not take back the stuff I find I don't need, cause it's electrical.

If I could ask or get the answer to this question I'd be a happy camper. "When I have headlight switch ON, in position 2 and lowbeams, I should have continuity thru the switch at which posts"??

Ractive filters are junk,stay away.

If you want a good filter for a hai or cai...spend the money for a K&N filter.

The max I'm planning to buy is a 1989 model... is there anything for that year that would resemble the parts for the 92-94 SE?

the 89 model starts you with a 30hp deficit versus a 92-94 SE.
you can with alot of fabrication however install a VG30E+T and have some phun.

RE :PACESETTER HEADERS VG30E got the ceramic coat Or ARMOR COAT that pacesetter claims that it wont rust and resist up to 2000F of heat. Mine is coming with a Y Pipe, did ANYBODY FROM THE ORG GET THE ONES THAT ARE NOW MADE IN THE USA/ I think most of the people that complained and bashed these headers because they got the ones that used to be made in Mexico( they were crappy) . I need a hi flow b/c i believe the stock cat is clogged and effecting my idle/ I heard Random Tech make good cats?/ my idle stays steady at about 800 rpm but when you are driving and come to a full or almost a full stop it stays at about 2000 rpm for maybe 3 to 5 seconds before going down again and the car shakes as the rpm goes back to normal. I have a good feeling that it has to do with exhaust flow. anybody have or had any similar issues with their idle.

Your cat is fine, you most likely have a vacuum leak somewhere.
