Quote: ... whats IAC? ...
IACV = idle air/adj ctrl valve

One difference to a leak: ECU uses IACV when trying to adjust rpm to a pre-fixed level. When IACV -steppermotor jams, it is always kinda 'late', cranking idle down as it shoul be driving up etc... causing fluctuating idle - especially after rpm's drop down.

Typical a leak is constant. Exceptions exist.

wiking can you explain what IAC is /(what it stands for) how would I know that this is my problem and not a Vac Leak? MSD kits? Anyone?

IAC = Idle Air Control
stop thinking about upgrades until you have the car running perfectly.
you check for vacuum leaks first and then once they are all found you start playing with other things via the instructions in the Factory Service Manual

I have a 90se with 5 spd. Need to know where the vacum line at the end of the top fuel rail goes. This is the small line at the end where there is a round object attached to the fuel rail with two screws.Don't know what this round object is called cant find it in my repair manual.I am changing fuel injectors and did not notice where it was connected or if it was connected some where.

should be. I think the only difference may be the design.

yes there is.
take some propane in a little bottle with a hose and wand. open the valve on the propane and wave the wand around in a careful and methodical fashion. If at any point the engine RPM raises you have found the location of your vacuum leak. You may have to stick the wand under the plenum to find the leak.

Or you could realize you have a 14 year old car and just replace all the vacuum lines...For under $20..

But thats just me..

My suggestion and your suggestion will both fix a vacuum leak, but mine is faster, safer, and longer lasting..

And IMHO..Using propane on a vg (POSSIBLE OLD PLUG WIRES LEAKING SPARK) is a big...BIG nono..

My car shakes as if it needs a tune up when the rpm is going back down when I am at a full stop. When the rpm goes down to normal (800) the shaking stops. The shaking is Almost like when you start to lift you foot off the clutch without giving it enough gas. Could this also be due to a vac leak?

not exactly sure what they did there... did they cut a hole on the filter box? I did see a 3rd gen page a while back about cleaning up the intake, including cutting holes in the box(pre filter, of course. I modified that by only taking out the piping between the filter box and the headlight. better sound, and a little better pickup. may not be as good as a CAI, but its cheaper.

i think wat they did was remove the other end of the air box tubing leavin the top end and strapping it tightly to the side where the air goes into
like a pop charger but not round using only the stock filter

Engine swap injector difference 94 to 91
I am swapping a 91 vg30e into my 94 gxe. The 91 was totaled but had a great running engine. My 94 engine has a rod knocking and had severe blow by. With the 91 engine on the ground I am replacing the front and rear crank seals, cam seals, timing components, water pump and thermostat. All is going well except the injectors have different connectors. I have read much, by searching, about the different injectors. However, I simply would like to swap the fuel rails, with injectors, from my original engine to the replacement engine. The injectors on the original engine ran great and didn't leak. Will this work? My concern relates to an engine swap in did in my 91 300zx ( I know the motor is different). On my 300zx the newer injectors required a different fuel rail which required a different intake. I was hoping this would not be the case on the vg30e. Thanks for any help. Tim Stover

Yup, they will swap into your replacement engine with no problem.

Don't forget to swap over all the sensors, and replace the coolant temp sensor.

The vacum line I'm talking about is under the plemum. It is at the end of the top fuel rail.It has a larger rubber line coming in from the fire wall side that is to the right of the fuel line coming from fuel filter. This line connects to a round metal piece that is connected to fuel rail. This round piece also has a small rubber line at the opposite end of the the larger one. This is the line I can not find a place for it to connect to. I assume this is a vacum line. I have looked at these pics before but could not find what I was looking for.It might be there I just dont see it. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line.

I will get you a picture of where the vacuum line goes to either tonight, or in the morning..
