differential bearing problem???

i read the 4th Gen faqs just before i posted since this problem just arose. i just bought my car less than a week ago and i has been fine since purchase except for the struts which i know already need to be replaced. today when i pulled off, i noticed a squealing/whining noise coming from directly in front of me. the noise went away as soon as the gear had fully engaged and except for once in second at low speeds, the problem has only been in first gear while the gear is engaging. i've also noticed a slight shudder when pulling off, but this problem has kinda just popped up and it doesn't happen everytime, just most of the time. i was thinking clutch, and cv joints before i read the differential bearings are an issue on the 5 speeds. any input would be greatly appreciated

Does this problem only happen when you are moving? If so, don't worry about it.

You might want to check your gear-oil just to be sure. Any leaks?

yeah, it seems to only happen just as i begin to move except for the one time in second gear at low speed. i don't believe it has any leaks, but i'm having it looked at tomorrow morning

ok, something new, if i rev to around 2K rpms and ease the clutch out, the sound goes away and the shudder isn't present. also it doesn't make the sound until my car has warmed up. it's a very loud sound and it's a squeal/whine/groan

Sounds just like you have a little clutch groan. I get it when it is real gold out. It does not sound anything like a differential bearing problem at all. I would not worry about it. It is just the sound of the friction disk mating up against the flywheel. If it is cold out and the car has not been driven for a while it happens sometimes.
