Tightening my handbrake

I must pull my handbrake up pretty far (more clicks than it says normal) and it doesnt hold firm on a hill. it has about 3/4-1" of play when not engaged. What is the correct proceure to tighten it?

pull the ebrake up high...you will see a hole that leads to a tighten nut...the size is 10mm...turn it clockwise to tighten the ebrake
