After the o2 sim install I was pulling 4 codes p0051, p0057, p0300 & p0420. I checked again a few hours later it has been just the p0051 code.

according to this the p0051 is that 1rst harness(black wire) o2 sensor, so it may just be that...
(but honestly, I have no idea[I am just going from the pulled code] and this is becoming costly)

Looks like I may have to shell out more cash for o2 sensors now...

Honestly, I wish I could just pay off a shop to pass me or DMV employee so I can just get legal plates. I am at (dim) wits end >.<

OK so I just got a new sensor- the bank 2 sensor 1(light blue/ 1st sensor on the passenger side).

This sensor is plugged right in the front behind the radiator & fans. Before I replace it- Is that the correct placement/o2 sensor?

It just seems odd that this is not one of the sensor harnesses hooked up to the sim and that it hooks up that close to the engine....

As always, your time and help is appreciated.

I was getting a P0430 code, Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2), so I installed a Universal O2 simulator and now I don't get a P0430 anymore, but I do get a P0153, O2 Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2, Sensor 1). Is the ECU comparing the response time of the actual O2 sensor (Sensor 1) to the O2 simulator (Sensor 2) and that is why this code is coming up? Or is it just a coincidence that the Sensor 1 went bad at the same time this I installed the O2 simulator?

ok, so i have not been able to clear the monitors for my emissions inspection here in pa. so i have no active codes but did get the p0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1). i just got in my o2 sim and i installed it as directed here .. no change in monitor after driving to reset the monitor..

my question is to whomever knows.. my heaters monitors are ok, its the catalyst and o2 monitors.. can i hook up the sim on the sensor 1 bank 1 because i have read here that the sims are only good on the secondaries??? or can i even try to use the same dual output sim and splice in a 3rd white wire and splice it into the s1b1 o2 or will the sim crap out? or even just use the sim on the one o2 sensor that is sparking the p0171 code? i really need to get the inspection done and trying not to replace the exhaust parts. car runs great otherwise..

Hey every one I ready basically every thread you guys had to write and im not quiet sure why i still throwing 7 different codes! the o2 sim was a success but the resistor to the heaters were not! im throwing the dreadful p0300 now after doing the hear circuit circuit part. okay this is the way i did it! i cut the power and ground to one of the banks and i cut both white wires to add the sim signal wires in! was i not supose to cut the ground and power completely for the harness for the sim to work properly? so i had the o2 still plugged in to the harness and i was throwing the heater code so i went about buying the resistor for the heater circuit and so i cut the (pink and black) and (red and blue) wires to the resistors and the resistors to ground! and unplugged both o2's completely. was this the right approach or do i have to reconnect any thing or leave the o2 plugged in? i thought the proses with the sim and heaters is the way to go if you dont want any o2 bungs hanging around! please help my car has a rough to some what un stable idle now =[ idk know whats doing on! and i have cattman headers and y 3inch custom exhaust res no cat and vibrant muffler. i just might have to cut and extend the the o2s add a cat and 2 o2 bungs if this was the right way im doomed =[

all i hear is issues with O2 sims, why not just install the more reliable o2 non-fouler?

Hey, I have a question, so I just ordered some OBX headers, and I was wondering how many o2 sims will I need? This is for a 2002.

One dual output, or two singles. I just made another dual today, not too hard if you have basic soldering and electrical skills. Wondering if there is a market for these now.

I have no idea how they work and I can't even find where to get them let alone what they're supposed to look like. I have a friend who knows a lot about wiring and stuff like this though. So, do I have to make an o2 sim, or is there a place that I can buy them?

I used working (not broken) rear o2 sensors and didn't need resistors...

On o2sim.com they don't specify if the "smart o2" or "universal o2" are dual outputs or not. They're out of stock anyway. Anyone know any other reputable dual output o2 sims or where I can order one online. Thanks!

I thought I'd post here instead of starting a new thread.

Last week I went to 3sx to buy another dual o2 sim (I'd previously bought one back in Feb.2014 after installing cattman headers ypipe & catback on my '01). They don't have them listed on their site anymore, so I emailed to see if they still carry them and were simply out of stock. A guy responded Friday and said they're no longer available. I wasn't sure what that meant (temporarily? permanently? just on their site or everywhere?), but seeing as it was the weekend I couldn't call until today.

In the meantime I did some additional google searches. I could not find o2 sims for sale anywhere. One site mentioned they are banned/illegal in the US and cannot be sold inside the US. Some said they've been banned for years.

I called 3sx today and asked them about it. Guy there said they haven't been able to sell them for "about a year and a half" and they cannot sell them anymore, said it's illegal. He also said he reached out to the guy who used to make 'em about 2 months ago and said he never heard back. He would not pass along that guys info to me.

So this sucks as I was planning to install headers & ypipe.......or at the very least gut my pre-cats (vq35). I realize another option is going the anti-fouler route, but I tried those on my '01 (like three different kinds) before buying the sim and it still threw codes. In my mind the anti-fouler is a crappy "option B"......but an option B nontheless.

So...... anyone know how to make an o2 sim for our max? I did find these links below. Ideas are similar but parts look to be slightly different. Would anyone with electrical know-how have any idea if any of these might work on a maxima?

02 simulators

Hi guys, saw this thread pop up and wanted to show you a better way than wiring in an electronic 02 simulator. This solution is very common and will work on any vehicle. Check the link here on how to resolve P0430 or P0420 OBDII trouble codes in your Nissan.

Good luck!

Just use defoulers. They work perfect on my spec v.
The curved ones made specifically for this purpose should work great, too, but it's going to be very obvious if you're in an ******* state.

I have three O2 sims, but I'm keeping those

I've used the defoulers on my GLE and it works just fine for me on gutted cats,no lights-just gas smell from tailpipe while cars on!

I gutted my cats too and have had a CEL on ever since. Now I have emissions due next month and need to do something to fix the problem! I had planned on going with the O2 sims that wire into the sensor, seems like alot of guys have the best luck with them vs non foulers. But like others have posted, they are unavailable now! Has anyone tried these http://www.bigdaddiesgarage.com/straight-cel-fix.html ? Seems pretty legit. Mini cats doing the same thing as a normal size cat and sending a real signal back to the ECU. Has anyone tried these? Looks like they would be about $100 for two, but real easy to install. I might try the anti foulers first as a cheap fix, but I would rather spend $100 and be done!
