Im very interested in dropping my car and seriously cant figure out what springs I want. Im only going to replace the springs, im keeping my stock struts and shocks. Some pictures make eibach look better then H&R and some are the other way around, Eibach says its F1.3 - R1.0 and H&R says F1.4 - R1.3. I currently have 18" 350Z wheels with Falken 225x45 tires.

Basically, I'd like the drop to be noticeable and give me a better driving experience

Your driving experience will be short lived because any drop is a bit much for stock struts. Also, IMO, 225-45's are too small for an A33 chassis.

Blues are stock replacements, and well, at this point, you will want something better than stock.

I have Illuminas. Check the suspension forum for more advanced/detailed answers to your questions, as I'm sure that forum will be helpful at this point.
http://forums.maxima.org/forumdispla...aysprune=&f=68

I like them and they have performed well for over a year (12-15k)

Whenever I want a deal, I check the GD forum:
http://forums.maxima.org/forumdispla...sprune=-1&f=17

And of course the classifieds on here:

PerformancePeddler.com

Use the key word "Maxima" for the disscount. It should cost around $425.

I just bought a 2000 GLE with 170,000 on the odo that we took in on trade and I couldn't pass it up. Anyway, I just repalced the starter 2 days ago and last night the check engine light came on. No major issues until I try to kick into passing gear and it sputters until it shifts gears and then it rockets out. Any suggestions?

Take it in to AutoZone and have them scan the car for the code. Ask for a print out of the codes.
Next, search.

just pull up on the clock, and it will come outta the dash. disconnect the electrical plug and then you can unscrew a couple of screws and have access to the front plastic piece. Takes about 30 seconds, and it's the best way to really clean that screen. You could turn the display white too, if you have some red saran-wrap lying around.

g'luck.

i have a 2k se, it was bought as an everyday car with no intention of modding whatsoever. as of right now the car is stock but i desperatly want to tinker with it, seeing the pics in the great picture thread doesnt help my desire.

heres the problem, the car was bought as a reconstructed vehicle after a front end crash and has a slightly bent frame. is it worth the effort of customizing it? a bent frame will only put pressure on other parts and cause them to wear out faster. engine runs fine and is a few days from hitting the 100k mark.

is it worth it to mod it with a bent frame? or should i just buy another hobby car. any other reconstructed maxi owners out there that are surviving?

One thing to consider is a wheel alignment.

anyone has a diagram about those motor mounts... will I have a check engine light when I unplug them? also the other day when starting the car, the car had a nasty vibration... felt like it was going to stall out... drove it around the block and when it came to a stop, the same thing happen. Check engine like came on and when away 4 times then it stop.

The car run fine again. But i worried for a bit. what could it be? bad plugs? bad fuel pressure? air mass sensor?

Thanks guys.

noob question coming up:

I ran a quick search but couldn't find anything regarding my question.

Looking at my muffler today as my Maxima was idling, smoke was coming out of only 1 exhaust tip (03 maxima). I'm wondering if this is normal or is something wrong? Shouldn't smoke come out of both exhaust tips?

The tip with smoke coming out is kinda brownish while the other tip is clean.

It should be coming out of both, but those are just the tips....have a look inside there see if anything is clogging it up for some reason.

I own a 2k1 max, and for some reason whenever I brake almost no matter at what speed, there seems to be a unsteady stopping. Most people don't notice it until I tell them to try and pay attention to the unsteady momentum of the stop rather than trying to tell if anything is happening...At high speeds like on the freeway, if I hit my brakes, I get a pretty intense vibration. my car kind of stops in chunks rather than a complete smooth stops. These chunks can range depending on what speed i'm going. If I'm going 15 or 20 mph I can feel about 2 or 3 slow unnoticeable chunks. When I have to slow down at high speeds it kind of scares me sometimes because the chunks are so fast they create the vibration, but the car stops fine. so the faster I go, the more, smaller, and rougher the chunks are....Any idea what to do?

The previous owner said he got a 600$ brake job (wtf?) a bit before he sold me the car, probably ties into it somehow huh?

hey sundown, that tube in your picture that is not connected to anything could be your transmission breather tube? not exactly sure but it kind of looks to be like that. is your car a auto or manual?

My Oldsmobile was doing that too. The brake rotors were warped/worn out. New rotors fixed it for me. I would guess it's the same thing with the Maxima... Good luck
