I can run the VIN for you, or you can just look at the VIN plate on the firewall.
RS6F51H == HLSD.
RS6F51A == Open diff.

Correct. Since drive by wire controls the throttle plate electronically, it's cheaper and more effective to just crack the throttle to control the idle.

New Here

Helllo everybody. Im new here and could use some help please. recently my idle air valve control went out. After fixing that the service light went off. Recently it came back on. Im gonna go get some codes off it to see what it is.

My car makes a clinmking metal noise when i gas it. Doesnt happen all the time but it is getting more frequent. When i gas it easy i hear it but when i punch it, it kinda goes away.

Does anybody know about a whining noise only when i start the car?

Thank YOu very much for the HELP!!!

I have a warpspeed y-pipe with hi flow cat that I would like to sell in the classified section but don't have posting privileges. What do I have to do in order to be able to do this?

I have found that local autopart stores carry the grey dot coil packs. Such is the case of the $70 Autozone's Duralast coils. The grey dot is hidden under a silver sticker and the nissan logo and part number are shaved off from the stems and the heads of the coils, perhaps because of some copyright or brand name issue. The same is the case with some of the coils I ordered through amazon.

A little Help!! Please

Hi Guys thanks for taking the time to read my post. I have just recieved some disturbing news from the dealership. They want $990 to change a Cat because its plugged. Is there only 2 pre-cats then the actual cat? Can you purchase the pre-cats or am i better off replacing "y" pipe? If its the back cat i will just replace that but If i have to replace the "y" pipe doe anyone know a good place to get one??

Thanks In Advance

Which cat is bad? What year is your car? Either way I'd tell them to take it off the rack and give you the keys. There is no way that you should be spending $1,000 for either a new cat and/or Y-pipe.

Bad Cats

The Car is a 2000 with 156k. They had suposedly change a cat a few years ago under wrty. and i believe it was one of the fronts because the rear didnt look new. I will find out for sure when i go pick up car because i obviously didnt have them do the work thats crazy!! I am just wondering if i do have to replace a front cat can they be bought individually or do i need to replace the whole y pipe? It pulls codes for both banks catylist so i dont know but i am guessing its the rear which will be easy. Thanks for all the help.

Intake Manifold

Does anyone have an aftermarket Intake Manifold?

1.) What's the gain like if any?
2.) Difference in sound?
3.) Last but not least, where did you get it?

I'm trying to totally replace all my airflow components.

You're plenty good with the stock manifold, if you're looking to modify it you could just do the SSIM. There are no aftermarket intake manifolds made for the FWD VQ35 besides the Kinetix.

There's the Kinetix, but NA you're not going to make much if any power from it.

Or you could do the RWD VQ35 UIM, but that requires even more modification than the SSIM, and you may very well have hood clearance issues.

IIRC it originally meant 'secret sauce intake manifold', or somesuch.

The SSIM information is easily found, and I'll refer you to the first post of this thread:

First of all, the 20th Anniversary Edition came out in 2001 only (commemorating the 20th year since the car was introduced in the states). Either your friend has an '01 AE, or he has an '03. They are mutually exclusive.

As to your question, here are some relevant threads:

Just to name a few. Do a search for more info.

Which is it that lowers the car? Is it the struts or springs? Im confused. Could i drop the car by just changing springs and still use factory struts?

Springs...

You could, but you'll blow the struts fairly quickly, depending on drop. Just get a good set of struts and springs. Before you ask which, search. There are many threads with good info on this.

Are the rims different?

I have a 03 SE 6spd Maxima and my buddy keeps telling me the finish on my rims are different than a regular SE. Is he bugging or is there something to what he is talking about. I only ask this because my rim is bent and i have to replace it and i don't want to get a replacement rim and the finish not match. If anybody has got some aftermarket rims and want to sell their factory rims hit me up.

2003 Maxima SE - MAF

2003 Maxima SE - MAF

I would like to replace the MAF on my 2003 Maxima SE, can someone please figure out what and where to get it?
I went to the dealer and they first offered me a MAF for $300 but ended up being the wrong one. Then they offered me a $600 MAF which they say is the right one this time (22680-AM600) with a discounted price of $400 since they messed up the first time, is this a good deal? or can I find better online somewhere?
Also is the 22680-AM600 the correct one? Any ideas or wisdom on replacing my MAF and exactly what I should get. Thank you very much.

For the best OEM price, call Dave B. I would get an A33 (5th gen) MAF, then swap over the thermistor. Search and you'll find the information on that.

I'm sorry but I tried searching and so many articles come up and sweeping through them all I'm finding is non-conclusive random comments about stuff that leads to other stuff, very confusing.

What do you mean by "get an A33 (5th gen) MAF"? Is there a part #? Also, my car is in fact a 5th gen (2003 Maxima) so naturally I won't get anything else but for a 5th gen so what do you mean? Is there another version for the 5th gen?

Also, I'm sorry about the fact that I have no idea who Dave B. is??

Thank you.

No, you don't have a 5th gen. You have a 5.5 (A33B).

This is why I said to search.

I googled it, and this is on the first page:

They're pretty pricey, but I hope once I'll get them installed, they will last a lot longer than the ones from eBay. I'm sick of dealing with coil issues!

IThank you for all the info, I opened some links you referenced and found:
"Call Dave Burnette at South Point Nissan and order the new 2k1 meter for around $110. Then transfer your existing IAT thermisitor over to the new 2k1 MAF and re-install it. You'll basically have the AM600 MAF once you move the thermisitor over."

Transfer existing IAT thermisitor over to the new 2k1 MAF?? No offence but I have no idea how to do that they way they describe it seems to assume like I'm a Nissan Technician or electrical engineer I have no idea what that means or how to do it and they have no instructions.

Since I'm not an electrical engineer would I just get the same benefit by spending $400 on the AM600 which already has all that in it?

Thanks.

Correct. Though the last time I ordered a 5th gen MAF, it was right around $80.

Thanks.
Did you not read this thread? http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...-maf-swap.html

There are pictures and clear instructions.

If you want to save 15 minutes by spending an extra $320, go right ahead. Yes, you'll have the same thing either way.

Personally 15 minutes of work is a lot easier than spending $320, but that's just me

Really like my Falken ZE912s. 40,000 mile treadwear warranty (something I didn't get on my Michelin Pilot HX MXM4s), AA rated for traction, A for temperature. Very quiet too.
