Anybody remember some guy on the forums here did the Infiniti I35 gauge cluster swap? I love the look of those gauges, looking for the write up on how to do that.

Thanks for the post unrealii. That might just be it. One of the last times I had the car serviced, they mentioned the throttle body needed to be cleaned. I'll do some research. Thanks for the tip! =)

Hi, Just recently bought a 03 titanium edition se and would like to know my best bet on getting a small can of touch up for a few scratches and blemishes on it. Should I just call dealer or go thru a good body shop. I just did a rubbing compound and wax job on it and just would like to blend in the flaws.
Thanks for any help.

My 2k maxima been acting weird lately. Sometime when I accelerate, the engine revs up to 4k but the trannny doesn't shift to second gear. I have auto tranny, I tried manuel shift. It doesn't work either. Sometime I just turn off my car and restart again then it's fine. Can u tell me what's wrong with it? Thx

Hi. I am in the process of replacing the airbags on a 2002 SE, and I need to confirm the location of the airbag module.

I found this thread which said that on a 2001, the module is underneath the center armrest. Is this true of a 2002 Maxima as well?

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...ag-module.html

Much Thanks.

RBW.

I'd go to the dealer and get touch up paint. If you have a shop mix the color for you, it will be more expensive. Of course it all depends on how much paint you need. If you get touch up paint from the dealer, make sure to shake it very well. The metal tends to settle at the bottom.

Sorry, I can't help you too much. I suggest searching for various transmission issues. For the 2000 year, there is a TSB which mentions issues regarding the solenoids and TCM (transmission computer).
http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB00-039a.pdf

Also, some have had issues with the revolution speed sensor and other sensors used by the transmission (abs sensors IIRC). Just read up on some of those threads.

download the FSM's in my signature. This will give you all the info you need to take your car apart. Remember to be patient. If a dealership is too expensive, an audio install shop may be able to get your dash off for you since they have to take it out to access the radio.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlp2KuWpoFI

Is the rest of your dash lighting up? You can control the brightness with the **** on the left of the steering wheel.

5th gen Headlight question

Not new to the site by any means, just been away for a while, I am new to 5th gens however so I guess Im half-noob. I totaled my 4th gen and am looking at getting a 5th gen. One of the first things i want to do is get some HID's (if it doesnt come with them). Ive tried to search for my answer but I havent come up with anything conclusive. Ive seen the kits work well with the 2k and 2k1 housing and Ive also seen that you should buy some 2k3 i believe it was housings which come made for HID's

Is there pros and cons to both?
obviously with a kit you could run into a glare problem, how bad is that?

the search was giving me a headache so i stopped using it, but i will tackle it again later on. just thought i would ask here first to speed up my fact finding.

Hi, I just had my first problem

Hi I'm new, I have been reading the this forum for bit though.

Well heres my problem:

I was getting into my car(2003 nissan maxima se Automatic), started it up, then put the car into reverse, the car went into gear and started to move, but when I put my foot on the gas, the car did nothing, didn't even rev. It was moving, but just idle speed. It does the same thing in drive.

I noticed the A/T light flashing, TCS OFF light stayed on, and the SLIP was on. The service engine light has been on for a couple of weeks.

I had to get home, so I popped the hood and discounted the battery for a minute, then reconnected it to reset the computer. I then started the car, and the warnign lights didn't come back on. Service engine soon light is still on though. While driving home the car ran great, car shifted gears smoothly and everything.

Does anyone know what might cause this?, thanks

If your SES light has been on for a few weeks, its a no-brainer that you should take your car to get codes read. Also, it is stupid to reset the computer because you will lose whatever faults the computer stored. Your car is trying to tell you something is wrong, go get the codes read and report back.
For your the dash lights, search the forums for "TCS SLIP light"

In my search for terms "HID Wiring" I came across answers to both of your questions. Hope that helps.

Disconnecting O2 Sensor

I've replaced O2 sensors on several of my cars but on my 01 Maxima I'm getting stumped (and my fingers are getting very sore!). I've squeezed the middle green post with no results. I've used long nose pliers on the middle green post with no results. I've tried depressing the two outer green posts and then squeeze the middle one with no results. There's got to be a simple way!

Thanks!

How to unscrew the PowerSteering Cap

Hello,

A quick question: How could I unscrew the cap of the power steering fluid reservoir on a 2002 Maxima?

I've tried a couple of times, the it simply didn't come off. There seems to be no threads in the cap at all.

Thanks

Cylinder 6 Misfire

My check engine light is throwing a cylinder 6 misfire. A few months ago my 00 maxima with 140K miles started sputtering while trying to accelerate in 2nd - it had a lot of drag and took a while to get up to speed sputtering the whole time. The next morning everything ran fine with no signs of the misfire. I am getting significantly less gas mileage than before, and the car is dragging a bit on the acceleration. It only gives me the serious sputtering maybe once a month... then back to normal after a day or so.

I read that it might be coils? fuel injectors (just put in injector cleaners last fill up - 200 miles ago)? sprk plugs (changed about a year ago)? Chk Engine light is still on - Any suggestions?

Are you on the original coils? Have you tested the cylinder 6 coil? Swapped it out to another cylinder to see if the misfire follows it?

I have not changed coils since I have owned it at 90,000 miles.... How do I test the 6 coil? The major misfire is only periodically, so I don't know how long before it misfires again- could be a month or two... Is there a way for a more immediate test? I will do the swap in the meantime. Thank you!

Test the coil. Search and you'll find instructions.

You wont get an SES from the injen.... at least you shouldnt. Just be careful when handling your MAF and it should be okay if you hook everything up and follow the instructions to the tee.

Swap to synthetic, just do it I am going to swap to mobil1 I just bought mine a few months ago

Get it from the dealer. its a perfect match and the little pen thing does the trick for scratches and scrapes. it has clear coat on the other side to give it a finished look. It worked very well for me

buy a haynes manual. The drain plug is the only bolt on your oil pan.,..

p1102 code was read i guess i need a MAF

Should I order one for a 00-01, or one specifically for my year? I hear of people using the 00-01. What is this resistor I need to swap out? What are the benefits if I do use a 00-01? Some input would be greatly appreciated because I'm stranded right now...I'm trying someones 35 hour wait with the negative disconnected...and I doubt this is going to work...kinda just a last ditch hail mary pass.

Heeeeeeeeeelp! Stranded! I found the benefit of the 00-01 its rediculously cheaper by 200 bucks does anyone have a thread on how to make this work for a 2002?

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT COLOR MY CAR IS?
IS IT GREY, SUNLIT SAND, OR STERLING MIST.
Would like to know this because I want to buy a spoiler to match.
Check my profile Pic thanks a lot in advance for any help.

Looks for the paint code on the data plate. There's a plate on the firewall/drivers side area, and a sticker on your drivers side door jam. It will give you a 3 alpha/numeric code. Once you have that, you can bump it up to this:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/touch_u...php?cPath=1956

Sunlit Sand = EV0
Sterling Mist= KT3
Gray Luster= KV3

Yes, this is where newbie questions go.

That was hardly 'being a ****', that was me asking my own question and giving you your answer. You never mentioned anything about searching, and that took me all of 5 seconds to find (literally).

If you don't want me to answer your questions, I've got no problem with that. No reason to start crying about it, though.
