Ok, I have a 01 gxe without the foglights and I wanna install some. I've read that our cars come prewired for the foglight installation. I know I need a new stalk, but what else do I need to complete the installation? I have the actual fogs and I'm in the process of buying an se talk. Can anyone guide me in the right direction as to what else is need? And if there's an installation guid online, that would be helpful too. Thanks a lot.

SES on after spark plugs replacement
Hello, guys
Today I changed my spark plugs following Greg's tutorial. I am sure I've have everything reassembled and doubled checked. But then SES light came on and didn't go away after few short drives
.
AutoZone said I have the following codes:
P1224 - Throttle Position Sensor 2 Circuit High Input
P1800 - VIAS Control Solenoid Valve Circuit Open
P0223 - Throttle Position Sensor 1 Circuit High Input
The car runs fine. What do you guys think the reason might be
?
Thank you in advance

.Reset the codes, see if they come back.
You are right. I remembered I had the key once in the ON position to wind down the windows while everything was unplugged. Then I went back house to take a rest.
The AutoZone guy was pretty stubborn and refused to erase the code for LEGAL reasons.
Do you think erase the code will help with this issue? Or, something is permanently defected?
Will advance auto parts or oreilly help me erase them?
Thanks!

You can reset the codes as shown here: http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm
Timing is critical, it'll likely take a few tries to get it perfectly right.
Most places will no longer clear the codes. A few years ago it wouldnt've been a problem, but...

I've done ECU resetting before, pretty tricky.
Thanks again, pmohr! You saved my day!
Yes, your car is prewired. You might pop the relay panel near the pass. engine compartment to see if the relay (blue) is installed for it, it should be. You will need some plastic fasteners and such if the lights you got didn't come with them.

I just did the resetting and the SES went away. After two short drives, the light was not back on again.
I found the procedure: http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/ecu.asp does not really work. The one on Org worked wonderfully. FYI, you don't have to wait for the last 40 flashes. After the 2nd 10 secs, you can turn off and that indeed resets the ECU.

I am not able to start a new thread, so I guess I have to post here.
I have a 2000 maxima, that is throwing the p0300 code and nothing else.
The car misfires and does not have the strong pick up. I have another maxima that I can switch parts with.
I ruled out the following:
Coils
spark plugs
compression was good
This is what I found:
on cylinder # 5 the spark plug looks like brand new. It is like never had a spark. I changed the coil and still no change.
I drove the car to see if I can get a more specific code, but nothing.
any other ideas will be of great help

Misterious Rattle
Ok so as the thread implies... i am new here and i have a question
I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima GLE and i have this noise that sounds like a tin can with a bunch of coins in it. The first thing i thought it would be was a heat shield, but i recently had it in and a mechanic assured me that nothing was loose down there. The odd thing about the rattle is that it is not all the time, you only hear it when the engine revs at about 1800-2000 rpm.
I can hear the noise when i start the engine and it revs past those rpm ranges AND when i am driving.
So i am hoping that somebody else has had this issue and can help me out.
My questions would be...
What the heck is it? and is it really serious?
Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

Hopefully it's not coming from your motor, because that is never good.
How was compression checked? I think you should do a wet compression check. If the spark plug is very nice and clean, it maybe getting steam cleaned from leaking antifreeze. With engine running, pull the fuel injector harness connector off that cylinder and see if engine idle speed changes.
What you said makes sense because in the morning the car runs fine for a couple of minutes. Is the anti freeze leaking from the intake gasket?
rdit. I cant disconnect the fuel from the injector in the back. are there any tips for that?

This isn't a GM, there is no coolant running through the intake manifold gasket.
my car wont turn on .I get code p1016 -p1012 I know that the I have to take it to the dealer to get the key reprogram .My question is can I bypass this or I have to take it to get program first and then by pass??
How can the coolant be getting to my spark plug?
I've seen oil there on other maximas, but not coolant.
The car does not smoke either it just misfires and has no pick up.
You can tell that there is a cylinder not working but the code never tells me which one.
Hey guys, my 03 TE SE I just recently bought the ac button does not click. Does it suppose to? The light stays green lit the whole time and would like to know before i start using heat and dont wont ac to run.
you probably have auto climate control... the button shouldnt matter, just turn up the temperature for the heat to come on and your AC will turn off automatically
I've been registed for a while and lurking alot lately .... I recently installed a new stereo (works great!) and it rekindled my craving to do some work to the car ...
used to own an 88 RX-7 13BT so i'm no stranger to getting dirty ..
i ordered a replacement apexi filter from Berk as it was the cheapest there ... figured i could get that filter and a cheap MAF adapter off ebay and elimate the stock air cleaner assembly.. figured it'd be an easy 10 minute job ... WRONG
first off i snapped a bolt off in the stock air filter box .. not a huge deal, but kinda pissed me off ... then as i was wiggling the maf housing one of the corners snapped off ... bigger deal ... that pissed me off real good ...
and to top it off .. I didnt realize the filter just came with the filter ... i'm used to buying cheapo filters that have the 3inch adapters as part of the filter ...
so i ordered an apexi specific filter adapter off ebay for like 15 bucks ... that should be here in the next few days ... and since i snapped a bolt on the air cleaner box AND broke an edge off the MAF housing i couldnt go back to stock...
i had to go to autozone to get a cheap spectre filter so i can alteast get around town ..
currently have the stock resonator to the MAF to the adapter to the cheap filter
i had to use epoxy on the MAF housing in an attempt to reattach the edge that broke off .. so far its holding rather well ...
i also sourced a G35 AM600 (i think is the part #) MAF locally so i'm going to pick that up as well just in case mine decides to crap out ...
all in all i should have just ordered the f'n BERK intake and be done with it ...it would have been almost the same cost
i called berk yesterday though and they are cool .. they are going to sell me just the midpipe from their intake kit since i already have everything else needed ...
LONG POST i know .. had to vent ..

Do you plan on getting a pigtail for it as well? Because unless you're getting it from an automatic '03 sedan, it won't work.
The Z33/V35 MAFs (barring the one exception above) have the same connector and pinout as the A34, not the A33B.
And it's not the same motor.
Well what exactly is the part number MAF you're buying? Don't say 'AM600', because that's not a part number, it's only part of one.
Thank You! It is good to be a part of the Maxima family

and from what i can tell it is not coming from under the hood, and the sound is more tinny not so much of a knock which is what i would assume you are suggesting.
Oh and the maxima has 106k miles on it.

hello i have a 2000 nissan maxima se and before i purchase a turbo kit for it im wandering what kind of mods other ppl with the same car have done or know someone that has done to there stock engine so it can recieve a turbocharger
Have an '02 Nissan Maxima SE, 107k, just cleaned the MAF sensor with CRC MAF sensor cleaner and the throttle body with GUMOUT throttle body cleaner... currently running rough, racing at idle, running rich and the check engine light's lit.
At this time, I've removed the intake system and have the valve pried open to allow vapors from the cleaner to escape. Do you think this will resolve the issue? Would it be a good time to reset the computer? How is this performed?
Just wanting to resolve the issue in time for the Metallica concert on the 15th. I'd appreciate any tips at this point.

I'm about to purchase a '00 maxima gxe from a friend but the clutch is going bad. called a few places and was quoted about $120 for a clutch kit but then there's the flywheel. I was told $72 for flywheel without ring gear and over $400 for one WITH a ring gear. please tell me I need the one without ring gear. on top of that, what other parts (if any) should I add to the list? TIA
Loss of power
Had issue with 01 AE where after 4k rpm's car would lose power, the rpm's would still climb but no more pull. Got SES with code p0171. Cleaned the MAF before purchasing a new one. Car now has full range of rpm's. THe problem now is all that low end power from idle to 3k rpm's is no longer there as strong. I'm not sure if the MAF and the computer just needs time to talk to each other to compensate for the MAF being clean.
Again, unless you get it from an automatic '03 sedan, it won't work. But feel free to find out for yourself.

it must have been off a automatic G35 then .. cause i took the full part # from the "upgrading the maf" thread on this forum and the junk yard read off the part # exactly ...
i'll just be sure to double check to make sure the part # is exactly the same before purchasing it...
thanks for the heads up though!!
that could have been 75 bucks wasted.
