Hardwire or cigarette lighter doesn't matter...you'd still be drawing power. Nothing changes functionality-wise.

It sounds like you have a battery drain issue. I would address that....

It MAY be a weak battery. But it could also be all the aftermarket items you have installed causing a slow drain.

The video you posted is of a strong start but bad crank position sensor - much different than a weak start.

Hardwire? Connect the positive to a positive and negative to a negative.

Where are you located?

Hey guys,

I have an 01 maxima SE. Today I changed my winter tires to summer tires. Before doing this there were no noises at all from the vehicle. After putting on the summers, I then noticed a wheel bearing type noise at all speeds, it is amplified when I brake. It is the same type of noise you hear when you are driving with winter tires in the summer. The summer tires are in good condition. Any ideas?

Thanks

You may just have noisy tires.

Noisy tires or wheel bearing. Since you just changed your tires and the noise appeared, you may just have noisy summer tires.

....what kind of tires are they??

Try swapping the fronts and rears. See if the noise changes/moves.

You're on OEM wheels?

I want to hardwire the gps b/c I wanna get rid of the wire factor..

also, If hard wiring the gps, will it still be able to receive traffic?

thanks for the help
That's not how electricity works. The devices will draw the same amount of power no matter how they are wired.

You prolly need a new battery.

Welcome to the org! The Stickies are being cleaned up but you can find the bulb size in the Fog light bulb replacement (2002-2003) link under the How-To sticky. H3 bulbs for the fogs. Check out the stickies and the search function. Huge resources. It's often faster to find the information yourself than wait for a response to a post.

I already answered your question. You asked it in post #12758 on the previous page, and I answered it in post #12759, also on the previous page of this thread.

He may have tried your link, but that guide doesn't actually show the fog light bulb for 2002 and 2003. It does show the 2000/2001 which is the H3. Weird. It's also odd that Federal Mogul (Wagner Lighting) has the same void in their online catalog.

Hi guys,

01 maxima, drivers side door hinge bushings are worn out. Dealer wants $60 for each hinge. Any ideas to fix this?

Thanks

If you mean that your door is sagging down try making shims or using washers to move it back up. Read through this thread http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...nging-low.html

Service Engine Light

Hello,

I just had my vehicle smogged and the technician failed it due to "Failed the MIL/check engine light".

The tech stated that the vehicle failed because "when the key is in the second ignition position the Service Engine light is suppose to shut off".

Here is the thing: When the vehicle is in the 2nd ignition position (vehicle not started) all the lights are on. HOWEVER, when the vehicle is started and when it is driving, NONE of the lights are on.

My question is: When any of you 5th gen owners have your key in the 2nd position (ignition off), does the Service Engine Light disppear?

Thank you!

One thing I did notice is sometimes when I hit the lock on the key panel the alarm/beep sound is loud as normal and sometimes when I hit it, it sounds dead, real low compared to normal..I guess that is a battery issue?

Could be a combination. Have your charging system checked.

Most likely a plug or ignition coil pack issue.

Search around - there's procedures that you can use to swap the coils around to identify the bad one.

Walmart or Autozone or any of these places will check your charging system for free.

I have a 2003 GLE but I am not sure what type of gas to use. The manual states I can use 87 but 91 is recommended. Ive searched threads and the results are mixed. I do not plan to use it as a performance car, just to get from point a to b.

Will it damage the engine in the long run to use 87?
