I have 2002 SE, and I noticed that the Driver Side Headlight was out. I got out and of course used my ultrascientific method of tapping on the light and of course nothing happened. I turned the switch a few times and it flickered a few times and then it went dead again. The rest of lights are working, just not the Xenon.

I went to the Manual and it told me to contact a dealer. So I did that and I called the Star Service Dept here in NY, the rep I spoke to was "comatose" because he didn't respond for what seemed like 2 minutes. I told him the problem and he said $1,300 to get it fixed, he didn't even try to ask me other questions like the ballast or the bulb, just said $1,300. I'm no trust fund baby, and I can't afford that much, but I take pride in what I got and I want to get it corrected. Can anyone offer up any solutions, my buddy a Subaru fanatic told me it might be something with the Fuse, Ballast, Ignitor or the Bulb? I tried to search on the ORG and found a how to article but the link didn't work. I am eternally indebted to anyone that can help me out. Thanks and sorry for long msg.
Did you say the xenon light flickered and then went off? I'd check the ballast connection. My headlight was out, I switched the bulbs, then when I checked the ballast, I noticed the connection wasn't secure. Plugged it in, problem solved.

Hi, I am looking to buy a 2003 GLE with 135k miles on it, asking price is $9900 from a dealer. Car looks clean and drives nice, fully loaded except nav. I just want to know how much longer can I expect the car to run (another 100k?) with proper maintenance, of course and if the price is ok. TIA

These cars can easily last 250,000k + with the right maintenance and driver. The VQ engine is one of the best ever made.

That price seems steep with that many miles to me...

I have noticed that since this is forum is back, all of the links are broken. For example, every link in FAQ goes to completely random topic. Database rebuild needs to be done.

Thats a lot of money for that car, tell the dealer to drop $2900 off of that price and throw in a warranty. Then make your purchase.

Yeah, that's what I thought. But then the dealer pulled out the BBK value of it being $12k plus change. I guess I would keep looking for go back and talk to the sales.

Just make sure you bring it to a licensed Nissan Dealer to get it worked on, local shops don't always know what there doing as its a foreign engine to them.

I have a question I have a 03 GLE, auto with 39000 miles. Iam getting a strange squeak at 900 RPMs. It happends on the way up the tach and once again back down at 900 RPMs. I narrowed the squeak down, its coming from under the motor mount behind the radiator. There are two wires going into a support bar under the mount. What exactly is that and how can I stop the squeak.

I'm in the market for a 2002/2003 Maxima 3.5 liter. I've found some nice 2002 Maximas with low miles. Is there a difference between the 2002 and 2003 3.5 engines? Is there any reason to get one over the other? Thanks!!

same thing. only difference is some options (Titanium Edition, etc)
only benefit of 03 would be a higher chance for low miles

Awesome. I've been finding a lot of '02s with low mileage. I'm going to check one out tomorrow that's 6 speed. I've driven manual for a long time and I don't really want an auto. But, it seems Maxima 5/6 speeds are rare as opposed to the auto. The '02 I'm looking at has about 43k miles on it. Hopefully it's as nice in person as it is in pictures.

Rims and Tires for my '01

I been meaning to upgrade my wheels and tires on my '01 SE and someone is giving me a pretty good deal on some 18" wheels with brand new tires on them. Now the measurements he gave me on the tires are 215/35/18. Are these a good size tire for my car?

I have stock shocks and springs and really don't want the car to look like it's floating a foot off of the ground. What is the optimal tire specs for 18 wheels on this year car with stock suspension?

Greatly appreciate any insight on this.

Need more info on the rims, but 215/35R18? Even if you find a tire that has enough load rating (you need 91 min, that size is more like 84-86), it's going to look dumb because a) massive wheel gap and b) too narrow tires.

No, the 35 sidewall is WAY too small to be on stock suspension. I don't know the best tire for stock suspension but check out the wheel and tire thread for more info. http://forums.maxima.org/forumdisplay.php?f=53

Acceptable sizes (depending on the width of the rim) would b 225/45/18, 235/40/18, 245/40/18

215/35/18 is way short sidewall and way narrow (narrower than stock!!!)
