2001 SE AE.

-The front end "clunk" that I still haven't found.
-Driver's side front window regulator is failing. Replacing this weekend.
-Had the P0420, got reflashed 2 years ago, SES lights up every few months.
-Voltage regulator inside alternator died. I measured 18.6VDC at 2,000rpm. Scratched up hands from replacing alternator and belts since I was in there.
-Audio controls on steering wheel: some times they work, some times they don't. Won't bother fixing this.
-Rear brakes transfer pad material regardless of pads or rotors I use.

Honestly, I still like the car. The front end "clunk" and the rear brakes are what's pissing me off.

I recently bought it, and I still have to

check/fix the VIAS
possibly get a new MAF.
get a new battery (failed CCA test)
re-aim the headlights
look into the BOSE sub that cuts out all the time.

Just fixed the only real issue with my car. The screeching serpentine belt. Asshat that put it on before me overtightened the tentioner pulley nut and I ended up rounding it off. Had to cut the belt, remove the tentioner assembily, hammer a socket onto the stuck nut and hit it with about 300 pounds of tourque from my impact. Put it all back together and now it's happily on the road.

Now I gotta do a tune up.

honestly i had a ton of problems when i bought my 2000 maxima as my first car. i took a gamble buying it with the service engine light on, and it was a bad move.

coils, tires, brakes, o2 sensors, cat converter, (a lot of the stuff was just wear and tear items, but there were several legitimate problems) and a ton of other things all were replaced. i actually fixed it up to perfect working order, but by then i had it with the maxima. i sold it in good condition (except for the cosmetic flaws the original owner put it through) for an 02 acura tl type-s and havent looked back. word to the wise for the op though, the tranny will go. mine did, but i had it replaced in a day and a half by the dealership for free under warranty. to this day though i still lurk on the org and look in the classified section at 6mt 5.5 gens for sale. i will always have a place in my heart for the maxi's but sometimes you have to move on. good luck with the cl-s.

You can't control the windows on the passenger side doors
The Break Release on the shifter is busted and sometimes it takes 5 mins to get the car to shift into anything but park
Something is wrong with my ball joint and the car "shimmies".
And I got foot loong scratches on the hood from shoveling off my car...with a shovel

1. depreciation
2. depreciation

other than the fact that this is the most expensive car i've bought and the quickest depreciating as well, the car runs well and I'm pleased with the way it looks. I've got a transmission problem but the car is still driveable-just doesn't sound like a car i want to be driving at the moment.

-if it wasn't for how quick it's depreciating, I'd be tempted to keep modding it, but i'm inclined to keep it the way it is (possible put some rims on) and drive it for a few years, trade it in when it has like 200km on it and get something more fuel efficient with less depreciation than nissan.

A plus side to the depreciation however is that I could buy a 2-3yr old nissan for like 1/3 the price i'd pay brand new.Example is that rather than putting 25-28k on a brand new mazda 3, I could get a g35/350z for far cheaper with most of the depreciation finished already and have a lot more fun driving something with a vq

Not much except previous owner installed an aftermarket CD player which kills the left side steering controls. Pretty lame.

That can be remedied with a PAC adapter.

- Front bumper needs to be repainted. Either heat (from headlights?) or paint chips in several spots.
- Bad color matching on passenger back door. In some light, it's a totally different color. Looks terrible. You can see it in my sig if you look close.
- Cigerette burn in the backseat.
- Cracked fogs.
- Door ding on driver front door.

1) SES light comes on randomly.....P0430

2) My heat shield rattles a bit on startup and INITIAL idle

3) I had the airbag light recently fixed by Nissan FOR FREE

4) The low pressure line for my AC has a small leak....hadnt gotten around to doing it...so far its been like that for the last year, NO PROBLEMS....i will do it soon though

5) Ive got material buildup on my rotors, so my steering wheel shakes when i brake real hard get em nice and hot (THEY STILL GRIP THOUGH)

It's easier to say what has gone wrong with my max:

ignition coils
needed computer reprogrammed once

What it needs:

New drive belts

What has been done:

All required maintenance... religiously. That includes:
oil and oil filter changes, spark plugs, air filter changes, transmission fluid drain fill, regular alignments, cooling system drain/fill, front/back rotors and pads.

Currently at 110k miles on a 2000 GXE

Update.

-Replaced driver's side window regulator, lubricated tracks (all windows), and reset limit switch. Like new.
-Replaced all four struts today with Monroe Sensa-Trac's. Got front end alignment. The "clunk" in the front end is GONE!!!
-Cleaned MAF sensor.
-Replaced foam rubber seal between intake snorkel and airbox, and seal between hood and front end of intake.

I noticed something interesting: the strut bodies, or black painted portion is stamped Made in Japan, and on closer side by side examination, it appears that the strut bodies that Monroe is using came from the same factory or same machinery as the originals I pulled off the car. Identical, exept for the small piece of metal welded to the back that supports the brake hose.

Rockauto.com is the way. The Monroe struts were cheap, and they had a mail in rebate.

Happy, happy, happy.
