And let us know when that happens (link preferably)...people tend to look past such features, annoyingly enough.

Yes, the Cattmans are showing more torque and more area under the curve, but the torque loss effect of the SSIM makes yours a completely different set up. Like nismology said, we can't compare the two headers because of that.

The only thing this comparison shows is that you need to do something to properly take advantage of that SSIM.
Maximizing all mods (including SSIM) is very important

So you're running with only one rear crossmember bolt?

Its not much cutting, a grinder can take car of that x-member really fast. Its only the outside lip of it really, can't really see to much of the motor mount

Actually I'm the friend of CMax03.

These are the headers that we will be installing for my birthday except now they are ceramic coated.

As for a write I don't know we'll have to see if we'll have time.

I might add my two cents, but I'm sure maximo018 will have more pics and follow up literature cause it's his car! I'm just trying to see what obstacles are gonna be present during this install! My Cattman headers had a few obstacles regarding the primary O2 sensors and the y-pipe collector length pushing the rest of the exhaust system rearward into the heat shields aft of the fuel tank! I was able to extend both O2 sensors, install the O2 simulators and shorten the Cattman resonator assembly length by .50"-1.0" and rewelding the flange back on! It's gonna be pretty tight trying the tighten that one piece rear manifold/y-pipe, I had little room installing my Cattman rear manifold by itself! So I'm sure it's gonna be a bear, I'll bring the die grinder along just in case! I'm glad the Cattman headers fitted like a glove the only fitment issue was the length and I was able to manipulate the heat shields not to rob except in hard turns with bumps, so I just cut the tubing at the fwd location of the resonator assembly. No problems at all now! Anyhow you guys that purchased these headers need to write OBX of these fitment issue cause I don't think grinding structural components is right trying to make these fit witout rubbing on important items like the Xmember.

And to Maximo018,

I think we're all interested in the install and fit issues. Such as the following:
  • O2 sensor lengthening.
  • Frame\crossmember modification.
  • Any issues not mentioned in descriptions given by previous installers.
  • Issues encountered during installation of the rear manifold\Y pipe combination.
  • Pics of the installed rear manifold\Y pipe 180 degree section would be fantastic! Some of your audience is still trying to determine if the OBX headers will work with the Blehmco lower tie bars (I & II). Pics would help greatly.
Anything you guys can contribute along those lines would be great. Other pictures of the install and finished job too, if you can manage it.

If not, we'll understand. Anyone who has spent most of a day under a car knows you sometimes reach a point where you just want it done and have no time for pics.

Thanks.

Can I ask about the ceramic coating? Did the coaters coat the flex section? I wonder how that will work out. Must work fine since I've seen others write that they've had their headers\Y pipes ceramic coated. Just seems counter-intuitive to use a non-flexible coating on a section designed to flex.

May I ask what the ceramic coating cost? That way those speaking to local coaters will have some idea if their local quote is in the same ball park.

Thanks.

I got my headers in on thursday and dropped my car off at the shop friday after work. They just called and told me they were finished putting them on. I'll be sure to ask what modifications were done to make them fit. On a side note.... The guy said the headers looked great and that they were of good quality. I have picture of the headers before they were installed as well but I think we all get the idea of what they look like. Maybe I'll shoot a couple vids today.

I want to know if the y-pipe is gonna bang against the xmember, it looked pretty close in the photo. if so that could get annoying real quick.

the engine doesn't move from side to side, so it's very unlikely.

so basically if i were to buy these all I would have to do is. Grind the crossmember a little bit, cut a little of the motor mount (im guessing the rear?) and relocate the rear o2.
