You cannot post pics from your C drive using that method, try attaching them instead.

Hey guys I know there is a classifieds section for this but do to my post history can't start a thread yet. If anyone needs a bose sub off a 2001 I have it and I also have a bose sub from a 2000 but I had to silicone the top of the speaker a while back. Both work very well. I put a aftermarket system in... no longer need them. The 2000 sub includes the relay wire. PM me if your interested....

This is what i did. I took a piece of paper folded it several times and wrapped it in electrical tape. Placed it on top of this 'GREY' box. Closed the silver metal box. and Whola!!!!!! IT DOESN'T CUT OUT ANYMORE. it cost me about .03 cents.

So after working for a while my sub started cutting out again. I tried levellkinchen's three cent solution....I think he may be on to something as the sub has been working again for the past 2 days at full volume.

So you used the original relay?

Basically the method behind the idea is just to force the realy downward so it always makes contact......correct?

The "piece of paper trick" is not 100% effective.....that original relay is JUNK!...the pins inside are flimsy and loose...so even if you solder it correctly ...the vibrations from the sub will soon mess that relay up again...that is why i threw that away and used the Blue relay in the above pictures

if u look in the previous page...i provided the part number of the relay...and no one can find it online...and i also mentioned that you can call Mendelson's Liquidation outlet in Dayton, Ohio... that has any thing you can think of ..to purchase this relay...but due to their poor customer service at the outlet...i doubt they're going to take their lazy selves and find the relay for you and mail it to you...that's why i offered...i'm here to help ...so MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!

As per this thread, some people have done that and it works.

It did not work for me. It was the last straw for that POS system in my car. Gone!

Just a quick updated, I got the relay from biren41888 and 5 minutes later I had my stereo back to normal, the new relay its a little chunky so the original metal housing may need a few "love taps" with a hammer, so far so good...

Straight up connection

Thanks a lot for the information. Here is my question, incase circuit board will not work, if I will pass the circuit board, what wires do I connect to the subwoofer?

Thanks

I dont think you can plug in the wires directly to the subwoofer....it will not be as loud either because that circuit board is the AMP to THAT sub on the right....the one on the left is powered by the main AMP. Do you have the same relay problem as everyone else? b/c i still have some relays that i put it mine...if you look at the pictures ..its the big blue relay and that powers 3 of my sub and the additional sub i put in..so now i have 3 original bose subs in my car ...email me if ur interested bvmp4@yahoo.com

I just tried the 3cent solution and blasted it up to max bass on full and it seems to be working like a charm. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the most brilliant ones.
I took about 1/4 of the cardboard paper from the back of an old notebook and kept folding it into smaller pieces till i felt it had a little spring in it (so it would keep pushing down that relay in the long run). I put it back in, it was kinda tight putting it back in but once i closed the metal box together it held. btw my 10 relay weld points had nothing wrong with them
hope it keeps working for you guys.

Hopefully it keeps on working for you. If not, hit Biren up for the new relay. I did about 4 months ago and the sub is still thumping away.

acgrunt19's fix may seem cheap, but works. i have bought a 2001 gle and been dealing with the problem for two weeks. i have been trying to fix it for one of those weeks. the "soldering fix" was tried twice doing nothing and did not even fix it for a little while. i took acgrunt19's solution to a little higher level. i took a foam baseball, just spungy material will work with little give, and cut it so that it added a little pressure against the relay in question and the outer housing. i ran the cd player for a half hour and no shorting, where it was shorting almost every 30 seconds. i will try it for the next few days and see if it fixes if for good. i will agree that if i were **** about getting the fix back to correct, i would replace the relay with the one you can purchase. but seeing as how this fix cost me around $2 and about 30 minutes, i am gonna run with what i got.

Awesome info I'll do it myself I'm a skilled solderer since 10 yrs old.......LOL....Good find! Maye that Factory Car Radio repair shop @ 407-830-0777 can upgrade the relay to something more durable.. My subwoofer just started cutting out and took the amp off and apart but didn't see anything with my old eyes....I'll use a magnify glass tonite to cure this issue and resolder that relay in.....

Yeah me resoldering the existing relay didn't fix the problem and I inspected every solderjoint with a magnify glass and found no faulty solderjoints like earlier is this thread, so I'll pack it all up and sent it to the repair shop FCSR and let them fix it correctly....

Biren is the real deal. He even emailed me back several times after I bought a relay from him. He wanted to make sure everything was O.K.
And it was. And it still is.

Yeah, I don't remember if I bought one from him, but I bought one from someone, and replaced it a few months back. Was working great until I had the fatal IACV/ECM/Engine mount issue :-p haha

Well, that always trumps a subwoofer problem.
