Opps typo fixed.

City only driving though has caused oil consumption to go up.

 

What worries me more is not the typo, its the fact that you never check your oil before it becomes empty.

Thats horrible george. Your car needs some TLC.

 

I recently replaced the upper oil pan seals and noticed a small exhaust leak.
.....great.

So I checked it out and turns out just a heat shield bolt was missing.
Kinda weird that it goes all the way through,
but I just put the heat shield back on and problem fixed.

It snowed here in Colorado, and I took the Maxima out for her first snow drive during my ownership. The handling in the snow wasn't bad, I kept slipping trying to get into first though. Maybe I'll look into snow tires, who knows. Once I'm in first gear and have traction all is well.

Can't recommend snow tires enough. Made a huge difference last winter with all the snow we had in Northeast. It's like being in a four wheel drive truck.

 

My tail-light burnt out, so I'll need to pick up a new bulb for that. Better to replace both at the same time or only the one that burnt out? Turn signal bulb & brake light still work. $2.00 I didn't want to spend

 

Do yourself a favor and spend 20 bucks. Get some Phillips LED bulbs and upgrade, and the bulbs are made very well in a style thats made for oem housing - so you cant see the bulb.

 

Replaced wheel Bearing. This was a couple of hours of work tonight.

"pushing out" the hub.


Getting the other half of the bearing off the hub. There is a better way to do this using bearing separator plate, but I was in hurry since this is my DD. A much better way would be to junk it and get new one. When you cut, MAKE sure that you don't damage the hub shaft. Do it very slowly and you don't need a lot of cut, all it needs is a little relief from the press fit pressure. I marked the hub shaft a little but buffed out with 1000 grit sand paper and Scotch Brite pad

Getting the snap ring out. This was the most time consuming. I could not understand why the Nissan folks decided to put that stupid snap ring design instead of the regular kind. There is no way to use the standard snap ring pliers over this and had to use 2 flat head screw drivers to get them out.




Pushing out the bearing. I used this http://www.harborfreight.com/fwd-fro...ers-66829.html. Make sure you have plenty of penetrating oil during this procedure.


Pushing in new Timken bearing ( they are made in Korea, not sure if they hold up like the OE though)

Yeah, I found that to be helpful. Really gotta ease it into 1st in the snow with my current tires

I think I'll start saving for snow tires. I was in Michigan for the snowpocalypse last winter and if this winter is anywhere near that, snow tires may be a necessity. Good to know it handles well with good snow tires!

 

I have a full set of Bridgestone Blizzaks that I got cheap that came mounted on 16" rims. Last winter was the first time in all my years of driving that I ever tried using a snow/winter tire. Let me tell you, I wish I would've done so long time ago. It makes someone like myself who has a long commute to work, much more confident you'll make it there without a problem.

That's $1.70/gal - unreal. It's still $3.30-3.70 here in California.

 

Its been that low for about a month here in Northwest Indiana.. Im thankful it hasnt snowed at all yet (its a mystery haha) because Ive just been cruising. Gas being so cheap makes driving for the fun of it so much easier to do.

 

Yup. $2.60/gal for 93 octane here in VA, went ahead and filled up full tank yesterday first time in a while, I usually run qtr tank.

Its good no snow and lower gas prices...loooks like Cali is getting the snow and expensive gas this time lol

 

^Socal Snow. Thats a new one to us The day it snows in SanDiego; well that day may be one day closer to the END of it all lolz.
Gas is about 2.40 for 87 out here; about as low as its been. I doubt were going to see lower than $2 here.

I hit 100k miles last night, was a bit disappointed in myself because I forgot to take a pic until 33 miles over.

I have this weird ritual I do when a car hits 100k which entails that I has to floor it WOT and goes up to 100mph to commemorate the 100th anniversary. Yes

Put 35% tint on the entire front windshield. I was a little hesitant at first about it being too dark at night with the tint, but I can't really tell a difference at night. Glad I did it.

 

my 88 cutlass supreme had 5%all around and 35% on the front it was impossible to see in it at night without a pig flashlight, perhaps being a gangster car and the tint got me 19 citations before an azzhole cop keyd all my tint so i had to remove it :fukkdapolice:

 

I also got 5% all around, no problems here in KY.

 

I have 2% on front and back windows as reflected by officer's digital measuring device, but he let me go since he recognized me from when he was doing security at my job I was going to joke with him about fighting real crime, but I didn't want to press my luck

Got some more of my soon-to-be '03 put together. Put pistons from a '12 in and split the head gasket, (per recommended from the lead tech at my dealer that im buying it from, the little boost in compression plus lighter pistons he had laying around. free perks right?) Ordering the rest of the parts monday, hopefully I can drive it next weekend.
