Now, now! No insulting the '04 SL. My roomy and very reliable '04 SL was one of the best cars I have ever owned in sixty years of driving.

Having said that, I must admit this '09 may be an even better car than my '04. The '09 certainly has sportier and more muscular and aggressive looks, a considerably sharper turning radius, a more level and controlled ride, more HP, more goodies (even air conditioned driver's seat!), etc, etc.

Yes, I loved my '04, but I wouldn't give up this new '09 for my faithful old '04.

By the way, nice deal.

i picked up a 2009 SV (super black/charcoal) with premium and technology packages, rear spoiler, floor mats, splash guards and wheel locks for $37,053 (including taxes, fees, etc.) this past Friday. sticker price was $39,575.

I traded in my 2005 SL w/ navigation & moonroof (with less than 49,000 miles) and got $13,100 for it.

May I ask what taxes and fees are? It sounds as if Chicago dealers are holding price lines stiffer than most east coast and southern dealers.

my state tax was $1,796. however, that's based on the amount i financed, which was $23,953.

my pre-tax price was still below invoice (according to edmunds and kbb) and believe i got a good deal overall. i'm certainly not complaining, anyway.

i can say that i'm amazed that many of you guys are getting deals out-the-door below invoice. i live in a fairly affluent suburb and my dealership surely didn't seem to have any trouble getting potential buyers. maybe we're just used to paying more? *shrug*

2009 Maxima for Sale

Hey guys, tell me what you think about this...

I was offered a 2009 Nissan Maxima SV Black with Black leather and tech package (NAVI). The car has 9500 Miles. No accidents, clear carfax, and not a rental. It was a trade in.

Price: $26,000.

Is it a deal?
If not, what should be my final price to the dealer. Please help. Thanks

Back in September, this would have been an incredible deal. This is almost $6,000 below invoice.

If you live in some place like Atlanta, where there is a Nissan dealer seemingly on every street corner, this is still a good deal, althought you could probably do a tad better if you were really stubborn.

But if you are in some place like Denver, where deals can still be very tough, you might grab this deal before someone else does.

The important thing BY FAR is to make sure the car is in really good shape. 9500 miles by someone who breaks a car in correctly, and takes care of things, is fine. But 9500 miles by the average poster on this board would be a disaster. Many here are doing wide open throttle (WOT) takeoffs while testing cars with single digit miles on the odo; absolutely insane. Others here talk about careful breakin, but I notice that one month after they have purchased their Maxima, they are bragging about elapsed times, etc.

CARFAX is not always fully accurate. Check every inch of this car inside and out for any scratch or blemish, as these will not be covered by warranty. Be absolutely positive this car is still under full warranty (get it in writing). Have the sales person remove enough trim to raise the floor carpet in the driver's well in order to confirm there has never been water in this car. Also check for rust under the trunk carpet. Look very closely at the tires. They should be the OEM tires, and should still have at least 6/32nds (preferably 7/32nds) of tread left, and be wearing fairly evenly. Greater wear indicates some abuse of the car, and uneven wear indicates some kind of problem, either alignment or worse.

The ideal procedure is to have a mechanic you trust check this car out thououghly (will cost one or two hundred bucks), but few folks ever take this precaution. One reason is probably that who knows which mechanics to trust?

Enough of my rambling. We will see what others here think about the price.

I'm still holding out for better deals. However they have a deal out there for 3.9% APR for 60 months or 5.9% APR for 72 months or $1500 cash back. I think that sounds pretty good. Runs through April 31st. What do you guys think? Do you think it will get better in May? When are the 2010's coming out?

Is this a good price

OK. I've been drooling over the new maxima since it came out and so I started internet shopping for a 2009 Black/Black with Tech Package.

The lowest price I seem to find as of today is $33,900. Out the door, including Tax, tag and fees. Waiting to hear back about what the mileage on that car has since its been there since Oct 2008. (And apparently Nissan raised the base prices of the cars since then)

The next closest price I've come across is $34,540 out the door. And then the next 2 offers are $34829 and $34991 out the door. I have breakdowns from each dealership on what each line item is that brings it to the out the door price. These prices DO include the $1250 rebate that Nissan currently has on the Maxima.

So what do you all think, Are these pretty good prices? Or should I be holding out and/or bargaining for a better deal.

Based on what I paid in my area, that does not seem like a great deal. At the time I bought mine there were not any rebates and I got SV+Prem+spolier for 32k (33.5k out the door).

That's a really good price I think, ~1500 under invoice out the door. I didn't mention the rebate. They are the ones that brought it up. Maxima2009, what state are you in, It would probably be worth if for me to buy the car there and ship it (or drive if its not too far).

Hey all,

I got 09 for retail back in august of last year. I was itching for the tuscan sun color. I caved in to the MSRP. I am happy with the decision.

Manoj

P.S. I ended up getting the SV with Sports+Tech Package. I wouldn't trade it for anything except for 911 GT2

OK. Well I decided I wanted the Premium + Tech Package. The new Out the Door price from my dealer is 35000. Which consists of a 699 dealer fee about 1950 in taxes, 100 registration fee, and some misc fees all reasonable. So that makes the price of the car about 32200+699 dealer fee = 32899. Sounds decent enough to me. Your thoughts?

I've had mine for two dasy and absolutely love it. I swore I would never buy a new car again but the new Maxima just blew me away.

I'm not sure how much of a great deal I got since mine was a demo.
I bought a Radiant Silver with the Sport+Technology package plus of course the mats and splash guards. Origional MSRP was $38,455 and I got it for $31,600 but again it was a demo so I'm not real sure how great of a deal it was.

I'm considering a base model, and right now I can get at least 6k off list.
Some of these prices here are crazy.

Maxima rebate?

Hello. I saw on the Nissan website last week. They have $1250 rebate plus extra $1000 cash for buying it before 4/30/09. So is anybody here get the deal? Are they trying to push the sale on 09 when 10 is about to come?

Seems to me that most dealers aren't really giving deep enough discounts with the rebate. I have seen people post their prices paid for their cars and some of them were pretty low and that was before nissan wasoffering any rebates. For example, 2 different dealerships i visited when rebate was 1250, sent me new price quotes after 1000 bonus cash was announced and they just moved up the price of the car 1000 and then listed the rebate as 2250... unbeliveable. One dealership even got mad at me when I mentioned that car price should have stayed the same and just take of another 1000 for bonus cash.

I have been getting a flurry of calls and emails from the different dealers I have been dealing with this month. I'm guessing its the whole end of month thing that you always hear about in the car sales business.

So I was just checking out the Maxima last night. A salesman offered me 42 month + 10k/year, 2k down, 339 a month for 2009 SV Sport + Tech packages. White on black.

I really didnt intend to, but he told me it was the last day for such a promotion-- so I dropped down a deposit. Should I continue looking around or is this a good deal? It sounds great to me tbh.

Truth be told, I actually walked in there to look at the Z or 3.5 coupe. And then I felt like I couldnt turn down that offer for the Maxima ha.

If you were going to buy one your monthly payments would deffinitely be
a lot higher so it seems like a good deal. However I don't like leases, I've heard to many negative things about them. That 339 a month though probably doesnt include taxes and is there a Cap Cost reduction at the end of the lease.

Sounds like a good lease for how loaded the car is. I'm not a lease expert but 2k out of pocket doesnt seem to bad. I put more out of pocket to buy it but my payment is much higher. I guess lease/buy are just two different ways to do the same thing.

I got the worst deal

I leased my 09 Maxima SV with Premium package (then MSRP $36280, now MSRP $36310) within the first week it was released back in August 2008. It was more like an impulse buy which I could not resist and now I repent each time I drive this beautiful car

I am paying $595/month with $1369 down. This includes 36 month/36k miles maintenance contract (basically free oil change and tire rotation) worth $600 and excess wear and tear coverage worth another $600. This is a 39 month lease with 39k miles.

I think, now I can lease the exact same car for $1000 down and $425/month (including everything except the maintenance contract and excess wear/tear coverage) or even less. I feel I am losing $170/month. I made my payments for 9 months but do not want to continue for 30 more months. Do not get me wrong, I absolutely love this car. But I do not want to lose $170x30=$5100 more than what I have already lost in the last 9 months. So looking to trade it in for an Infiniti EX35.

Posted all my numbers so that if any of you got a bad deal, you can read this and feel good about yourself

I have been trying to figure out if I got a good deal or not... I feel like I may not have.
Precision Gray SV with Tech Package, floor mats, trunk mat, splash gaurds.. Sticker was 36.5 ish- traded in my 350Z (that still hurts to think about) which was worth $7500-$8000. Here's where it gets sticky- I leased in order to get my monthly payments where I wanted them at $358/mo for 39 months with 15k miles per year. The residual value of the car at the end of the lease is 20k. I'm still trying to decide if I should buy it at that point- I realllly want to start doing mods so I feel like I need to figure out if I will be keeping her or trading her in at the end of the lease. I don't want to start pouring money into something I will just get rid of...My head is spinning...

Have the dealers given you any idea what they would give you for the trade? Would you be deeper in the hole if you try to get out of your lease and into something else?
