Pinstripe
I'm seriously considering removing the pinstripe the dealership put on the car this weekend... thankfully its not painted on, just pinstripe tape... Thoughts?

Sorry for the crap quality... took the picture on my iPhone.
Thanks!

I get the reasoning behind it for some people. If they'd put it a "little" higher, so it matched the tip of the headlights and taillights, instead of sitting an inch below the body crease, it might have looked "better"... probably going to pull it friday before I polish and wax the car... its got nothing on it now, and a LOT of swirl marks from the crap contract washers the dealerships used to wash the cars! EEEK!! Two guys, a power washer, and an abused set of shammies!!! =( ugh...

Nope... I always park like that at work... I park at the far side of the lot... so I don't mind or care that I take up two spots... severel others do as well... I always did with either of my two Gs I justed traded on the Maxima... What is annoying, is the people who do that up front, with the Toyota Highlanders and Ford Fusions... ugh... seriously people? lol
When I'm out in public, I tend to park at the far end of the lot, in corner spaces if possible.

Thank fully my sons are more careful than most kids... they never open the door without having their hand on it and are almost always very careful when they open the door... someone else at their school however was not...

I got this one morning while I was inside taking them to class. Was normally parked between other cars, more than enough space, then came out, went to work, never noticed as I didn't approach that side when I left... until I went to lunch that same day... saw it on the door and was parked as per usual at work, so I deduced it had to be someone at their school... no not, no paint transfer... but their was this crap Oldsmobile parked next to me that morning and I've seen the way the mother and her daughter care for the car and how they get out... drives me crazy... I steer clear of their car now if I see it.
Thankfully, it was considered normal wear and tear when I had the lease turn-in inspection done. I did get it quoted, and it was like $435 to repair and paint just the door... It was the Infiniti dealership's parent companies collision center... thankfully, I never had to get it fixed! ^_^

With the car parked in the sun like that you should be able to use a pocket knife or razor blade and lift the edge of the pin stripe and pull it right off since it's so new.
Your parking style seems to be a growing trend, many of the parking lots I go into or through always have several cars in the back taking up 2 spots or parked on an angle, what I can't stand is these people who feel the need to squeeze their tahoe or minivan into a spot a normal sized car would easily fit into and then watching them squeeze out with the door pressed against the other car, painful, I've actually parked my car to then move it cause of who parked next to me
Guess it would really make your day to see a smart car and a fit squeezed in besides you, sorry to even put that thought in your head, I can't stand that in the city

Just got the Maxima back from the dealership removing some minor scratches and retinting the front passenger window... Off topic, but since I mentioned the general parking at work, thought I'd prove it...
How I park...

Where I park...

A little blurry... but I'm WAY over there to the upper right against the other building... far side of the lot... but check out the jokers up close... remember the Highlander and Fusions I mentioned...
Yes, here are the real offenders... front and center...

Makes me laugh everyday when I walk past them on the way into work...

The 'natural' place visually for the pinstripes would have been an inch higher, lined up with the top edges of the headlight and taillight housings. BUT - That would have put them right at the edge of that major crease, and would definitely not have looked right (NEVER put a pinstripe on the edge of a crease - always looks bad). As it is, those stripes don't look bad.
I have never had pin stripes added to a vehicle, and feel fairly neutral about them. If they had been on a car I was buying, I would probably leave them on for a few weeks, making sure to pass by the dealer and look closely at cars exactly like mine, but that do not have pinstripes, and make an unrushed decision. It is surprising what may 'grow' on a person.
They are very easy to remove, but difficult to put back on. Just make sure before deciding.
As for parking, spaces have gradually gotten narrower and narrower over the years. As a result, many businesses that would otherwise have my patronage never see me, because I will not park where people have to contort like a rubber man to get in and out of their cars. If the lot is large, and fairly empty at the far end, I will go there. Otherwise, no way. There is a motel in Spruce Pine NC (Pine Valley Motel) where the parking spaces are all TWELVE FEET WIDE. I use that motel every time I am in that area (at least half a dozen nights a year), just because my Maxima absolutely loves the parking.

I think that certain vehicles look great with a pinstripe to add a distinctive break in the vehicle lines to add depth....but in this case I don't think the MAX needs any help with lines AT ALL!!! I think the vehicle is already a sexy beast with it's natural flowing coke bottle lines that don't neep pinstriping. But as with any mod it is always what the owner wants and nothing else......to each his own I say, and if you like em keep em....

Decided to pull it... it was going to get polished off by the Flex DA this weekend if I didn't pull it anyway...

If you'd read it, you'd see I said I parked that way at work, on the far side of the lot... I'm not enough of a jerk to do it randomly in public... and if I do, its again at the far end of the lot.

In case there may be those here who think you are parking in a 'no parking fire lane', I am assuming that warning is meant for the driveway beside the marked-off parking spaces, and does not apply to the parking spaces.
You probably will be happier without the pinstripes. Pinstripes work best on a plain car that needs a little pizzaz. The styling/body sculpting of the '09 Maxima has more than enough pizzaz, and pinstripes on this car serve no real purpose.

Yeah, in Texas all avenues of travel are marked "Fire Lanes" for emergency vehicles... As long as you're behind the red line, you're fine. ^_^
I don't like any of the stick on striping. in fact when i bought this max (and all before this like 4 of them) I told the sales person if the company sticker is on the car. I WILL not go thru with the deal, He didn't believe me, when i went to get the car after all the paperwork and the detailing done, I walked around the car an it was still on the trunk. I told him that the deal was off, and walked away, He bout flipped out on me.
