Thanks.
I just press the phone button and the little lady says to state a name or command after the beep. After the beep I can say "home" or a name and she will repeat it and ask "is that correct", I say "yes" and the number is dialed.

Simple.

Exclamation 2010 Voice Commands reconfigured?...

Thanks for the response.
The 2010 system must have been reconfigured.
When i press the "phone" button, there is no spoken follow up. I am taken to a screen with several tabs, i.e. vehicle phonebook, call log, handset phonebook, etc. No voice command options here.
When i press the "voice" button, the little lady asks in which of six categories i want to proceed BUT she goes thru every one of the six before i can choose one by speaking.

Why would/did Nissan eliminate the simpler dial command from the 2009 model?

Just another way for women to control men. You must be a good listener if you always wait till she's done talking

You have two choices, either:
  1. You can go inside the voice recognition settings and turn on advanced mode which disables most basic prompts and allows you to go directly to voice input mode or ...
  2. After you press the voice button, press it again quickly to bypass the voice tutorial and go straight into voice input mode without any prompts.
Hope this helps!

completely off topic ... I have a 2010 Maxima Sport with monitor package. i havent found anyone talking in detail on how to bypass the e-brake and speed sensor to watch dvds while driving. This is purely for the entertainment of the passengers, and would be great to have music videos playing while driving. lets get the tread going please so we can gather as much info as possible on this.

MarceloB, I deleted ALL your other duplicate posts. Let me give you a hint before you annoy the regular folks. Before posting in everyone's post the SAME EXACT thing, post in 1 place. BETTER YET, before you post, look in the stickies threads, the FAQ threads and try searching. Your question was already answered and there's a full thread on it. After 2 1/2 years of the 7th gen out, you'd have to assume your question was already answered somewhere.

Once again I thank fellow members for their responses and advise.
Unfortunately, none of these suggestions work.

I wonder why Nissan changed the voice commands in 2010 to EXCLUDE a direct "dial ***" command?
Your descriptions of the way the 2009 system works is what I expected in my 2010.
Are there any 2010 owners that have found a solution?

Havent found a thread on this and can't start one yet....
Has anyone tried or considered changing the silver sport trim with the premium wood trim (inside)?
I imagine it should be fairly easy if you get the OEM parts... Anyone?

I would trade you if the car was not a lease. My wife wants the silver or carbon fiber trim. I not to fond of the wood either, sport and wood don't make a good combination IMO.

Well,,,

My question is simple. Did you already like an earlier Maxima before the 7th gen? Honestly, they just seem like such a different breed of car, I wouldn't expect a 5th gen lover to aspire to be a 7th gen owner.

Yes. And had a previous gen as well. And Yes, I agree. It is a different breed of car that not every prev generation owner will like, many will tho.

Yes, I have had each gen beginning with two 1985s (2nd gen). I have loved them all. In my mind, the gen that was most unlike the general Maxima theme may have been the 6th gen. But I loved my 6th gen ('04), and it had not the slightest whisper of a problem the last four years I owned it.

I already know that giving up my '09 when the 8th gen arrives is going to be emotionally tough for me. I absolutely LOVE my '09.

Hey guys, I just got a 2010 Maxima SV with monitor package only. I just had a few questions:

-Without navigation, is it possible to play movies off a usb drive or ipod?

-How do I do a remote start with the key?

-What things can you use for the 3 auxiliary ports?

thanks so much!

I am not sure if the monitor package will let you play DVDs. I would imagine that would be the lowest upgrade required for DVDs as you would need a nice color monitor to watch it on. I do know that if it does play DVDs the radio will actually say DVD on it. If it doesnt say it, chances are it wont.

Remote start. There are a couple of threads that are spacifically made just for Remote start. Three actually. They might one day be merged into one so someone like youself can findout all we know in a single thread. Here are the links.
1.)http://forums.maxima.org/7th-generat...ote-start.html
2.)http://forums.maxima.org/7th-generat...-question.html
3.)http://forums.maxima.org/7th-generat...ote-start.html

For the Auxillary connections i am not sure what three you are refering to. I know some models have a headphone jack for an Auxillary input. The only other Aux input I know of (which might be what your refering to) is the three in the center console which are RCAs. It is just a right, left and video RCA input.

Congradutations on your new Maxima! I hope you enjoy it and find this website usefull.

Thanks for the help, Flip2cho! Yea, my Maxima doesn't say dvd, and I had tried a usb drive with videos of different formats and they didn't work. I'm gonna try ipod videos tomorrow when I get the chance.

As for the auxiliary ports, I have the red, white, and yellow stacked up. So what can they be used for / with?

thanks!

and btw, is that a pic of your car's interior? That metallic finish looks awesome!

.wysiwyg { FONT: 10pt verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; BACKGROUND: #f5f5ff; COLOR: #000000 } .wysiwyg A:link { COLOR: #000000 } .wysiwyg_alink { COLOR: #000000 } .wysiwyg A:visited { COLOR: #000000 } .wysiwyg_avisited { COLOR: #000000 } .wysiwyg A:hover { COLOR: #000000 } .wysiwyg A:active { COLOR: #000000 } .wysiwyg_ahover { COLOR: #000000 } P { MARGIN: 0px } .inlineimg { VERTICAL-ALIGN: middle } I would imagine that the usb or ipod videos would play for you since you have the color monitor and a USB.

The auxiliary ports you are describing are standard RCA jacks just like a T.V. or VCR. Yellow is video, red is the right side audio and white is the left side audio.

Thanx for the complement on the dash. Its the only one that comes on the Sport model. Have you seen the wood trim on the premium model? that is my favorite. I wish it were an option to have from the beginning.

I'm going to go try my ipod now, hopefully it works.

Also, I know what the ports are for, I was just wandering what the nissan designers had intended to be used with the ports. Would I be able to hook up my xbox or something? lol.

Also, I've seen the wood. Looks nice, but my preferences lie in the more sporty looks, such as yours or the ones that I have on mine (black version of yours).

Huh, good question.. Who knows but it opens up to a wide range of possibilities. A camera, playback on a video recorder, maybe even in yor case a car DVD player since you also have a 12v Jack in the same console.

The ports are used to download user data to Consult every time you visit the dealer. The Usb port allows them to install hidden spamware on the hardrive. I would never use it

Just kidding agreed on the original post. If you get some cheapo monitors and a power converter you could actually play anything you want.

Get the iPod A/V cables from your local electronics store, plug in the red, white, and yellow cables and plug the iPod end into your iPod.

Press the AUX button until you get to the AUX-In or something of that nature (it should come right after XM-3).

If you have videos on your iPod, select which video you want to watch and enjoy. You don't have to have the Parking Brake in but you do have to be in Park.

With the Monitor Package only you can't watch iPod video through the USB (from what I have been able to determine) but if you have the Navigation system I think you actually do have the ability to utilize the USB for video.

If I am wrong, please correct me here, but it really shouldn't be too difficult.

2010 Headlight adjustment

Hi, I am having an issue finding the adjuster to move my lamps up and down. I just installed HIDs and noticed one of my bulbs is pointed up slightly more then the other. I was just curious if anyone knew how I could fix this. Thank you for all responses.

If I'm not mistaken they updated the software of the 2010 system.

Is it the right headlight that is a bit higher? If it is then it is suppose to be that way. It lights up the side of the road and does not blind other drivers. I have a 2010 as well with some DDM 55W 6K kits and they are aimed perfectly.

Yes, the right beam is supposed to be slightly higher than the left beam. I think that difference has been around for at least thirty years.

The flat cutoff at the top of our headlight beams makes adjusting these headlamps easier.

I noticed the same thing but thought mine was just uneven too. I never really put any thought into it but it makes perfect sense. I guess since this is the first car Ive owned with projection HIDs Ive never really noticed it before. A perfect cutoff line would be nice to see though but I guess being courteous is more important.

Thank you for the responses. I didn't know that it was like that on purpose but now I know I guess if just comes with the perfectionist attitude that I wanted it to be all straight but I don't want to blind anyone I have 8k on mine so ill leave it how it is.

Solution pairing HTC TP2 with 2010 Nissan Maxima

Posted by BT Guy on 06-07-2010 9:58 PM

This is unbelievable, but should work. At least, it worked for me with TP2 and 2010 Nissan. I have been searching for some time and finally found the answer. Just follow the steps, even if you don't think it is going to work.
Here are the steps to get it to work:
1. On phone, Open bluetooth
2. Choose left tab (settings)
3. Click on Advanced and choose Audio
4. Check the box "Play system sounds on remote handsfree device"
5. Click Done
6. Go to right tab (tools) and click on Networking Manager
7. Choose Create a Private Network and click continue
8. If the car is not listed, go to Menu, Show all devices (also enable the bluetooth in the car and say Add Phone)
9. Once the car shows up, choose it and it should give you the option to input the 1234 code...then you will be paired...

Lightbulb new to site but have question.....2009 maxima

Love my 2009 maxima S , had autostarter put on it and did a 2010 fog light kit myself ...
i ordered a spoiler from courtesyNissan.com and the spoiler did NOT come with a template to install because it is considered a "replacement" part and not original accessory.
Called 2 local dealers in PA and NissanUsa.com and nada...prefer installers to use the template anyone with any thoughts on where to get one???
Thanks...

This is such an excellent example of what is wrong in today's world. It isn't like the template is a $100.00 item. I feel the only common sense approach to this would have been to have the template with EVERY spoiler, so the same part number will apply to BOTH original installation spoilers and replacement spoilers. Mankind has become very proficient at shooting himself in the foot.

right on lightonthehill !.... Makes no sense to me how the cheapest thing (paper template) is missing from everything i have added/ordered to the car. When i contacted customer service nissan (india) the person said to me "I am just customer service" told me to contact my local dealer, put me on hold then hung up.....
so i am just trying to see if any of the great members of Maxima.org may have thoughts or a solution or any ideas.

I have already learned a great deal from the members of this site and plan on being a positive contributor to Maxima.org website. When i am able to post i was going to show how i installed my fog lights.

Hey guys i have a K&N CAI installed on my 09 max.
I was wondering if replacing the stock mass air flow sensor would increase the airflow and thus lead to better hp/mileage gains?
sorry if its a stupid question, i was just shopping around and it seemed like a decent idea...

Glad you have found out, that the help and customer service on maxima.org is superior to anything Nissan will give or provide at the corporate or stealership level!

This is a wonderful source for help and information as I have found out, time and time again since joining!

I can't start a new thread so I'm going ask my question here.. I have the 2010 with navi and music hard drive and every time i start my car theres a grinding noise coming from near the monitor. It sounds like the old school hard drives reading on the old PC's. It grinds about 3 times and then stops. Is this normal?

Definitely NOT normal. I think you and your service advisor need to meet and have a little talk!!!
