One is Crimson Black SV premium and the other is Winter Frost SV Cold Package. They both have 35% tint all around and the Premium has the side view mirrors tinted. Other than that they will remain stock. I will post pictures as soon as I can.
Welcome, IH8SPM! (Whew! That a bit of a struggle to type your username I somewhat share you sentiment with Honda. I have an 05 Accord and love it. Wife and I looked at the 2010 and was dissapointed esp with the interior design. 05 looks much better. So we looked around at Toyota, Mazda and Nissan. Maxima is just a superb vehicle. The reason why I don't completely agree with your view of Honda is that I find the Pilot much better vehicle than Pathfinder. Our next vehicle will be a 7+ passenger with towing capability as we plan to purchase a boat in a couple of years (we decided to start reviewing the current avail vehicles in that class).

I have 35% tint on driver and passenger side and 20 on back side and rear window. Looks great with the silver as it gave a bit more of an attitude with the spoiler

Looking forward to your pics.

Exclamation Maxima Transmission

Hey there, i got a 98 nissan maxima 5sp manual. the transmission is noisy under acceleration and also when in neutral, quiet at cruising speeds though.

i rebuilt it twice myself, and it runs just fine. i want to sell it now and get a newer gen maxima. nobody wants to buy it because the trans is so noisy. i was curious, am i using the wrong type of fluid. im using 80w-90.

do these things take a specific type of fluid like my porsche or do i have to change the main bearing again, NOTE: last time i changed all the bearings and it didnt make it any better.

also, 2nd gear grinds only on a down shift. probably just a synchro, but odd that it only does it on a down and not an up shift.

Hello everyone, hoping someone can give me some suggestions with this. I tried a few searches but didn't find anything quite like this - my apologies if this is a repeat.

Finally started playing around with the navigation system in my under-1-month-old 2010 Maxima (I absolutely love the car, by the way) and noted there is a "Transfer Address Book" function. I did the "download address book" function to a USB drive and copied the resultant files to my PC.

Noted there are three files: homelocation.hlc, storedlocation.slc, and stsfile. Opening the .hlc and .slc files with Notepad, I noted they appear to contain the longitude and latitude coordinates of the saved locations. I have a whole bunch of addresses (including longitude and latitude) from my old standalone GPS I'd like to be able to enter into the Nissan Navigation system, but I find programming the addresses via the touchscreen interface extremely time-consuming (and sometimes inaccurate - quite a few of my locations don't have "accurate" street numbers).

Is there any application anyone knows of I can use to edit those .hlc and .slc files on the PC so that I can edit them on the computer, then use the "Upload Address Book" function to transfer them back into the navigation system?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all ... I just joined the forum and glad to see this post here. I did a search but couldn't find the info I need. I am looking to transfer my 2009 maxima from Texas to New Jersey. Does anyone have any suggestions of companies that are reliable? My car is brand new so I want to make sure it comes in the condition I shipped it off. I also am planning to ship my bike (enclosed only) so if anyone knows of companies that would give a deal if both are shipped together please let me know! Thanks so much.

Engine Idle Speed

My Max idles at about 550 rpm. The engine is rough at this speed. I can pick it up by 50 rpm and it smooths right out.

I was curious if anyone else noticed this?

I might ask the dealer about it and see if they have a way of adjusting it in the computer.

Hello, I can use some help here. I have an HTC Touch Pro 2 and have been trying to pair it with my 2010 Nissan Maxima. I receive an invalid pin when I enter the 1234 passcode. I updated the software on my phone and retried but this did not fix the problem. I searched the web and I saw some registry hacks which worked for some but not others including me.

Does anyone have any suggestions that may fix the problem? It would be nice to use the bluetooth hands free. My phone works with every other bluetooth device I have with the exception of my new car.

Thanks for your help.

Did you try removing all previous bluetooth devices? Also let the phone start scanning before you have the car search. I had the tp2 and gave up on it for other reasons not related to the car which came after.

I have the same phone and have the same issue. After some investigation, I've found that the Bluetooth driver for the HTC Touch Pro 2 is incompatible with the Bluetooth driver in the car's head unit. This problem is not isolated to just Maxima's. I've read about similar issues with VW's, BMW's, Mercedes, etc.

After scouring the net, I haven't found a fix yet. I've tried everything from editing my registry settings to upgrading my operating system. Nothing has worked yet. I tried pairing my cheap $20 pay as you go phone and that worked fine. Techically, I believe it's a problem with OEM's using the WIDCOM driver vs the standard Microsoft driver for Bluetooth.

For more information, you can check Nissan's phone compatibility list on their website.

Weird, my TP2 (Sprint) works fine with my 09. Are you on the 6.1 or 6.5 OS version?

My TP2 is also on Sprint. I tried both OS versions - the 6.1 and 6.5 - neither worked on my 2010.

I guess I should've got the 2009 instead.

Lucky you. My phone will not even pair. I enter the code '1234' and the car tells me I am an invalid PIN. I called Nissan Bluetooth support and they told me to call HTC. I spoke with HTC and the refered me back to Nissan.

Are you aware of any work around to pair the devices?

Just got the windows tinted and purchased all the interior and exterior hid/white lights to be installed. This weekend it is going in for a new stereo system.....already 800 miles down

Your post might have gotten a more active reception on the 'OK, Who Bought One? What Do You Think?' thread. But since you put it here, I will respond here.

Nice ride. I also have the Premium, and every day brings more joy from this baby. There will be things you are still discovering on this car a year from now. The Premium option really loads this car to the gills.

I played my Music Box for hours today. I have the music from dozens of CDs loaded on it. Here is your first Maxima.org tip: The easiest way to switch between CDs on the Music Box is NOT via the black buttons up near the video display, but further down the dash - via the right radio ****, which has 'TUNE/FOLDER' written just above the ****.

You will probably have questions. We all do. Most can be answered here fairly quickly. Keep us informed on how things go with your beautiful car. Welcome to the ORG!

Thank you very much. Its funny you mention the music box because I have not even began to play with that. I just got a system put in the trunk today and it really makes the bose sound that much better. I kept it classy by having a custom box built so I could retain most of my truck. Im excited to learn more about the car.....

Does the 2010 Maxima SV have power folding side mirrors?
I have found mixed answers, but I'm not right close to my car to check it out for myself.

No power folding side mirrors, just manual one's.

First post. Just picked up my 2010 Maxima SV Premium/Tech in Graphite. Loving it so far. Came from a V6 Passat Sport.

I'm looking for suggestions on plate frames. Has anyone found decent plate frames for less than $35 a pop? Any suggestion for online retailers that offer decent deals?

I'd consider a Maxima, Nismo, Nissan or blank frame.

Any ideas or help would be great.
I use a Seagate 500gb external HDD in my 2010, I had to partition it to FAT32, I used SwissKnife and made 4 116gb drives.

I have Sprint as well, tried both 6.1 and 6.5 and neither works. I was thinking about changing the ROM with a custom one but not sure if I want to go that route. I called HTC and they refered me to Nissan and of course Nissan refered me to HTC. You have to love the finger pointing. I have a cheap hands free that I am using in the meantime that sits on my visor but it kind of defeats the purpose of having bluetooth in your car.

How do you select between the 4 separate partitions while hooked up to the aux/usb in the car?

If you have the Premium or sport(not sure) you get the F1 style steering wheel paddles as well.

Service Reminder System

Still unable to start a new thread, so I'll post here.

I just had my initial 3,750 mile oil/filter change completed. After leaving the dealership, I checked to see if they had extended the service mileage indicator from 3,750 miles, up to the next change interval of 7,500 miles. To my horror, the brainiac at the dealer did not reset the service interval mileage reminder, but reset the total mileage driven back to zero.

Also, he only reset the service reminder for the oil change, not the oil filter reminder. So, I extended the mileage reminder for the oil filter up to 7,500.

But now, I want to change the mileage on the oil change from zero back up to 4,000 miles which is the current mileage of the car actually is.

Am I stuck? Have I interpreted the owner's manual and the whole point of the service reminder system correctly? Or, am I making a mountain out of a mole hile.

Thoughts?

Optical Drive in Head Unit

I have the 2010 SV Premium with Tech. It has the single optical drive in the dash.

Can this drive read a DVD that is full of MP3s?

It's my understanding that it will only read CDs.

My 09 which doesn't have a DVD did NOT read/play MP3's nor import them into the music box drive.

I suspect it has to do with the DRM licensing on the Music box.

I think you're misinterpreting it.....

You set the number to the number of miles "elapsed" and set the counter to 0.

Example. You want the reminder every 4000 miles, so you set it to 4000 and start your counter at 0. As it nears the 4000 miles elapsed marker it starts annoying the he# out of you with that really bright dash light.

Very strange inconsistencies. Some TP2s pair and others don't.

I have a TP2 and it is recognized and works well except I cannot tranfer the entire phonebook at once.
I end up having to tranfer individual entries one at a time.

I contacted both Nissan and HTC. The Nissan tech guy was unware of a fix and was to look into it and get back to me but never did. HTC tech said that there is really nothing that can be done.

It's surprising that the voice commands are not simply "dial ***".
Instead we have to go thru several steps to get to that command option.

Funny, my 09 DOES play MP3 CDs. I haven't tried putting them to the Music Box though.

Yes it is! Just remove the fasteners under the bumper and reach in. Chech the headlight/Hid/foglight thread for more info.

If you are talking about making a call all you have to do is say the name and the system will repeat it back to you saying "is that correct" you say yes and it dials. Just that easy.

Say the name after what?
After pressing the "phone" button or the "voice" button?
Or other?

Thanks 2y2r

That is a start.
Which ROM are you using on your TP2? Are you with Sprint? Have you made any modifications? What year is your Maxima?

It would be nice if I can use the hands free in the car instead of my portable Motorola unit.

I have a 2010 Max SV with Prem and Tech.
My carrier is TMobile.
No mods.
It is a new TPS so it must be the most current software.
