You just need a 1/8" Plug to 2 RCA Plugs Y-Adapter.
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...uctId=3909621#

Just plug the RCA ends into the plugs in the center console.

Thats what I'm currently doing. I was hoping there was some adapter so iI could use it like the I-pod. Nissan should realize that everyone does NOT have an I-pod.

Gotcha. I know it doesn't do you any good but Nissan did correct that with the 2010 model.

I seemed to have stumped the maxima community with my previous question. Let's see if I can go 2 for 2: does anyone know where the 9.3 GB hard drive is located in the car?

In the center console, under the display, in the audio stack.

New here..question on paint quality and MP3

Hi all...owner of a 2010 silver Maxima SV with all options except spoiler

Couple of quick questions..MP3 player I have is a Sandisk...is it possible to use a Y-cable to play it or do I have to support Apple on this? lol.

Other is anyone having paint issue? I live in Northeast so I know I will get paints chips no matter. I have owned care since October and paint has chipped in 6 spots along A-pillar....along roof line near dual sunroofs and going back towards rear window on passenger side. Just seems odd that it is happening there and not along front end as I would expect and I haven't noticed it anywhere else....keeping fingers crossed

Love the car otherwise...was Honda owner till they cheapened up on last generation. Know Accord and Maxima are not in same class but Nissan did right on this generation.

Try plugging your MP3 player into the USB port and see what you get. Your files may play just fine. If not, you'll have to fall back to the Y-cable.

I have not experienced any paint issues with my Maxima.

Thanks for replying Boone.

I did try going through the USB port but MP3 player thinks it is hooked up to a PC for some reason. Will try Y-cable..if not will break down and get an IPod.

Paint chips must be from all the rock salt being used this time of year...being kicked up by cars and trucks. Just seemed odd where it is happening. Either will try touch up paint or take it to a body shop...figured should only be a few hundred to fix it.

Actually, that is probably a good thing. What showed on the car's screen when you switched between the different AUX inputs? Specifically, what was displayed on the USB input screen?

You can also buy a cheap flash drive and transfer all your MP3s from your player to the flash drive and just plug the drive directly to the USB port. That's what I use to play my MP3s in my Maxima now and it works great.

Thanks for your help all.

Boone...will have to double check but I think it said no files...or no music files when I selected USB. My Sandisk screen showed like I was trying to transfer files from my PC.

Wanye great idea..seeing jump drives are so cheap.

Yeah, I love that USB port. I use my PSP as an MP3 player plugged into a casette adapter in my other car. So much easier playing the MP3s on my Maxima! A lot less clutter too.

Yeah I definitely recommend using the Y-cable. However if you get a thumb drive and use the USB, it's good to know that the order you add files to your USB thumb drive is the order they will appear and play on your Maxima as well.

Newibe here with a stupid question:

There is a "Set" button on the left driver side with two other buttons that have "1" and "2" on them. I figured these are some presets for the seating and wheel configuration. However, I can't seem to make them save my presets.

I tried looking in the manual but could not find them. Could anybody explain to me how they work?

That's exactly right. You have to make sure the car is on and in park.

Then depending on which of the two Keyfobs you press the Unlock Doors button on. The seat, mirror, and steering wheel move back to those programmed settings!

My keyfob is Set as #1, and the wife's keyfob is Set as #2.

I owned a 2003 Chevy Impala base b4 I got my Maxima. I had intake manifold failure at 82k, had to replace the engine 1500 dollar job. My starter would also short out a few times. I was told the 3.4l engines were very prone to problems. The Maxima is a completey different experience. It's sporty, luxurious and it goes better than my old Impala. I only had the 4spd auto so this gearless tranny is so much better to me. I remeber getting smokeddd by a 7 gen in My Impala. Also, reliability is much better with these Maximas, they are bullet proof and so is the VQ motor and CVT trans in this car. You get sporty shifting when u want fun and a smooth ride with power when you want comfort. I say go for the Maxima, Impala with 97k and 3k already in repairs wont be a good idea. The only thing I liked better in the Impala was the larger backseat, but the Maxima is still more than big enough for me.

Hey no problem man! I would highly recomend the Sport/Tech.
Sport- because you get all the goodies, big wheels, metallic trim, memory seats rear bucket seats, xenon headlights.
Tech- Because having Navi is always helpful, plus you get the bluetooth audio which lets you play music from your phone wirelessly. Also, the voice commands are really nice to have, you can make phone calls while drvivng by telling the car the number you want to call.

has any experienced a random plastic popping noise coming from the audio stack? it may be from the heat being generated behind it and causing the plasic to flex etc.

Question Memory seat button illumination

I noticed that when I turn on my headlights in my 2010 Maxima, all the various control buttons in the passenger cabin are illuminated EXCEPT the 3 buttons (set, 1, and 2) for the seat position memory. Any one else noticed this? Or is is it just my car and warranting a service call?

Thanks,
Brian

Not normal, but its probably just a very simple problem, take it to Nissan let them fix it.

Good luck man keep me posted. Make sure you go to overstock.com and get the pricing in your area!! Thats how I got a rock solid deal on my 2010, I wouldve been in a SV with no Sport or Navi, but thru that website I got into a Sport/Tech.

When I start the car and turn on the headlights, if I press seat memory 1 or 2, the button for 1 or 2 flashes for a few seconds while the seat adjusts. The button then remains dark. This seems like it's normal, not sure though. Does your car even do that?

Nothing like this in over two years with my '09. Does it ever stop completely for an extended period? Is it more prevalent in either very hot or very cold weather? Has this been going on since you got the car?

Yes, I do get the flashing when I operate the buttons. It just surprised me that these were the only buttons that don't seem to illuminate when the headlights are on.

Ok, I have a 2010 maxima too. Maybe that's the way the 2010 works. Does anyone else with a 2010 have their seat memory buttons on all the time when the headlights are on?

ive been noticing it alot more in the last couple of months of so, and it has been cooler in texas as well so im not sure if that has anything to do with it. if the music is up u cant really hear it but once the car is off and everything starts to cool off it starts up...more annoying than anything...i dont remember noticing it at the time i got the car...

Thanks for the confirmation, bommart. Yeah, I guess they figure you're not going to be adjusting the seats and setting the memory while you're driving, so they don't have those buttons illuminated.

I live in Wisconsin and haven't noticed anything like that either. I've only had the car for a month though. I just hear the slight pinging after turning off the engine, which is getting less and less now.

19kdrill - I think the problem is that I'm not sure anyone here on the ORG has those chrome wheels. I don't recall seeing them in any of the umpteen hundreds of photos strewn throughout these posts.

I have searched for those specific wheels on nissanusa.com, and I can't find them there, yet they are shown as an available accessory in the Maxima brochures. Nissan has dropped the ball on these wheels, and that is probably why I have never seen them on a Maxima. I think they look good.

Maybe someone here will surprise us with some help.
