Does anyone has the spec for the stock " Rod Bolts " for the VQ30DEK. I've ordered a set of ARP VQ35 " Rod Bolts " but when the rep received my ordered he called me back seing the note that I was looking for Rod bolts for VQ30DEK. Basically some are telling me they are the same bolts but the rep is saying it's a no no... Does anyone has the spec of the stock Rod Bolts for the VQ30DEK, he say he can check my spec with what is available and maybe they can find a bolt that has the same spec. Otherwise I found a company that make custom fit rods & bolts but let see first what are the stock spec then I can search for alternative.

DE-K doesn't use bolts. It's a stud/nut setup.

Who's been telling you they are the "same bolts"?

The rod fasteners in the 3.0 are as strong as you will ever need them to be.

That's what I meant, but my Fr-english is playing me some trick sometime... In french we say Bolt & Nuts and this refer to stud/nuts. I'll post some pics of the DEK stud/nut later tonight.

I ordered the ARP from a local shop, he tough they where the same and that's why I didn't ordered directly, I let him took the guess... Now what other option is there available beside custom made ? I can only seem to find stockers stud/nut but that might be good enough.

well how high of a rev limit were you planning on ( I was thinking 7200-7500)

I was thinking between 7200 -7500 rpm. Even if the engine would be capable of 8000 - 8500 rpm I would limit the engine to 7200 -7500 rpm in order to preserve it and make it last longer.

I mean if the engine still produce power at 7200-7500 rpm, I have a doubt that pass that rpm any gain would be made but I might just be plain wrong.

7200-7500 is nothing as far as the rod fasteners are concerned. Stock is fine.

With that said, if you are going through the trouble of taking apart and reassembling the bottom end, I would use new "bolts" and nuts.

Part numbers:
12109-31U00 Rod bolts (studs)
12112-42L00 Nuts

12 of each. Cheap too.

I'm looking at a DEK motor with 13k miles on it, I shouldn't have to really worry about just replacing the stud/nuts on this engine right?

IMHO, torque-to-yield fasteners should never be reused. They're so inexpensive that you might as well replace them.

I call Dave B, the studs are 3.40 each and the nuts .86 cents, plain dirt cheap.

Now I guess it would be wise to replace all the crank bearing ( not sure if it's how it is call in english ) do I just order the stocker or is there any better option ?

I found it 93mm

So doublea what are you doing for the oil pump? I looked into the vq35 stock oil pump (180) but I don't know if its going to be necessary since I plan to only rev to 7500(but I also don't want to end up like dandymax). I have already started pricing my project and its at $4k now but I will have alot of stuff that I am selling at the same time.

Hey DaveVQ, I've ordered a Toga oil pump because they are rated up to 800HP, here is the link: http://www.importperformanceparts.ne...mpsnissan.html

I'm like you and wont cut corner, since this engine will have a lots of new expensive parts, I want to make sure I wont re-open it before a long time, that's why this entire project will have taken me like 2+ years to accomplished. At the stage I'am that would be easy to get discourage but my goal was set for spring 2009 and I believe it will be done in time ( ready for my daughter's graduation ) she really want me to bring her with the max once it's ready and honestly I dont want to disappoint her and miss that honor.

Rating an oil pump in terms of HP makes no sense. Revs, not HP, kill oil pumps. Either by crank harmonic vibration, lack of volume, oil aeration, etc.

I should have said the Toga oil pump will hold up fine up to 8000 rpm & 800 hp.

Hey grey99max, can I get a measurement on the pathy IM? As in how tall is it

I believe if I measured correctly I have 8" to work with from lower IM to hood. If worse comes to worse I will make a hood scoop

Sure, I can do that tonight - it's raining and storming - again - so no play time on the highways for me.

Are you thinking about trying this manifold ??

I don't want mine anymore - too bad you're not in the States, or you could have it...... although, if I had the '01 Pathy 3.5 LIM that matched my Pathy UIM, I wonder if that would fit on my 3.5L ??? Now that could make an interesting intake manifold.

I'll take photos with a ruler included, from all angles. I seem to remember that the UIM bolts don't all match up to the lower 3.0 LIM, but I gotta check - it's been a year or two since I looked at this.

I took the day off and finished the intake ports on the second heads, it's going much faster with the second head as I now have a mock up but better knowledge on how to do it. I should finish the exhaust port within about a week. The final polishing of the exhaust port will add another week to the work.

A+

Hey man,

Just wondering a few things about your pistons. You said they are 9.5:1 right? You got them custom made, how much did you pay Arias? Just doing some research for the fall project.

Yes the Arias piston are 9.5:1 C/R, I've purchased them from an org member and got it for 450$.

You may want to check with this company: http://www.importperformanceparts.net/

Some more questions:

Have you decided on cams yet? Just going to go stock 3.5?

Now I have the VQ35 cam with stephen's max cam adaptor, but depending on the cash flow when ready to re-assemble I may buy some e-bay or nismo knocker.

If you do decide to buy a knock-off please please PLEASE check the valve clearance before final assembly. The quality control just isn't there.

I said knocker but to be honest I've never made any research for cam. I'm not familiar with the available brand, so if I drop the VQ35 cam, I'll go with a brand name...

Nismology: Thanks for the hint about the cam, but which one would you use if you would be in my situation ?
